This restaurant is located at the pier for sightseeing boats touring the Oboke Gorge, a famous area in Yamashiro Town, Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture. Many people visit to enjoy a meal while watching the scenery of the Yoshino River, which changes it appearance with each season. Oi Shokudo located about five minutes’ walk from JR Naruto station is a long-established udon noodle restaurant where the fifth generation owner currently displays his skills. His udon noodles prepared from early morning every day are traditional handmade noodles. They are often sold out just after lunch as customers constantly come to the popular restaurant after it opens at 10 a.m. It is popular as the smooth thin noodles are mixed well with a soup that has a punch of bonito flavor, and the delicate taste warms up body and soul. It uses succulent deep fried tofu made by a well-known local shop.

The main topping is thinly-sliced pork belly simmered in a sweet but spicy marinade. Each table has a bowl of raw eggs and you can add as many of these to your noodles as you like. Tokushima Pref. Tokushimashi Yaoyamachi 2-20-1
Cafe Takashima is a long-established café, founded in 1959. The retro-style wooden pot-shaped sign outside the café is very striking; apparently the café owner spotted this sign while on a trip to Italy, fell in love with it, and bought it to take back to Japan. Inside the café, the large table made from a single plank of wood, with a very tasteful design, attracts the eye. One of the most popular items on the menu is the hamburgers, which are made by heating the buns on a specially-made metal plate; rather than using regular round buns, the café uses thin slices of bread. The café’s Special Burgers include hamburger meat, ham, eggs, cheese and vegetables, providing a very substantial meal at a reasonable price.

Sweet options like jam and pineapple toast 350円, peanut butter chocolate and banana toast 400円, or savory items like ham egg cheese vegetables sandwich 480円, hamburger hashed beef egg cheese sandwich...

The main Okamoto Chuka shop is located along Prefectural Route 17 that bisects Komatsushima City, Tokushima Prefecture. This Tokushima ramen shop has continued the tradition of making ramen since their beginnings as a ramen stand shortly after the war. Straight medium-fat noodles are entwined in the rich pork bone based Tonkotsu broth. The meat ladened Chuka Soba Nikuiri is recommended for its Chashu slices, cut from Awa pork, amply served atop the noodles covering the whole bowl. The popular sushi from the Komatsushima main shop is a locally held secret as well.

This restaurant has earned a reputation for the great taste of its beef and pork. The fresh pork entrails are especially recommended. The restaurant even offers a variety of uncommon parts of pork such as stomach, diaphragm, and tongue root, each served with salt and pepper. In addition to charcoal-grilled pork, beef, chicken, and seafood, the restaurant also offers sashimi, steaks, stews, and other items. Course meals are also available as well, but require a reservation. We recommend finishing off your meal with a helping of Handamen. This dish of fine Handa somen noodles, a Tokushima original, is served in a bowl of pork soup.

This udon noodle restaurant opened in 1965. The ability to take in views of the Miyagawauchi River while enjoying a washbasin full of udon noodles has kept it popular all these years. Their flavorful secret dipping sauce, made with plentiful amounts of more than 10 stock ingredients including dried sardines, kombu seaweed, and katsuobushi (shaved dried skipjack tuna), is provided with a beaten egg in a small pot. Other popular items include their karaage (Japanese-style fried chicken), which is tossed in a home-made sauce, and grilled shiitake mushrooms, which are grown on natural logs in Awa City and served with ponzu (yuzu citrus and soy sauce) and sudachi citrus.
