A Korean restaurant located a two minute walk from Morioka Station. The restaurant is located in the Jaran Building, named after the Korean Jeju Province name “Jaran,” meaning “hush little baby.” Floors one through three are spacious and fashionable, and it’s a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. The cold noodles and yakiniku grilled meat set have been the restaurant’s most popular item since it opened, making it easy for diners to enjoy Morioka reimen cold noodles. The soup is sweet, spicy, and simple, while the noodles are slippery, chewy, and delicious. Other popular menu items include the bibimbap set and kalbi marinated barbecue rib meat.

Cold noodles come in a variety, Chinese, Korean and Japanese. On top of the Soba, Morioka offers something closer to the Korean kin, with a piece of fruit to spice it up. We were offered apple and...

This is a popular restaurant for Morioka jaja-men. The shop is said to have originated when the founder had eaten zhajiangmian in Manchuria before WWII, and tried to replicate the dish with Japanese ingredients. Enjoy the chewy, broad noodles garnished with meat stir-fried in miso, cucumber and green onion, and mix in garlic, ginger and chili oil. Finish off the meal as Zhidan soup by leaving behind one mouthful of noodles, then adding in noodle broth and a beaten egg.

I visited Pairon main shop. I enjoyed at Morioka station Branch shop in the past. But main shop is more warm and homely atmosphere and service. Shop itself is old and narrow space. But I like main...

At 1 Chome Odori, Morioka City, this shop specializes in yakiniku and cold noodles. Founded in 1954, it developed its original cold noodles based on Hamheung and Pyongyang cold noodles. This is the origin of present-day Morioka cold noodles. There is a lunch set that comes with galbi, rice, and half serving of cold noodles.

Although this restaurant is famous for its reimen, I ordered barbecue beef which is amazingly good! If you want to have great beef, this restaurant is a good choice.

Five minutes by car from Shin-Hanamaki Station. A restaurant located along the parking lot for the Miyazawa Kenji Memorial Museum. Modeled after the “Restaurant of Many Orders” appearing in Miyazawa’s fairy tales, diners can enjoy a meal while feeling like they are in the world of Miyazawa’s stories. Popular menu items include hearty Ihatov set meal, which comes with kakuni stewed cubes of Hakkin pork and seasonal tempura; as well as the Yamaneko suiton set—suiton, a soup with flour dumplings, is a local Hanamaki dish. Visitors can also purchase original merchandise themed after the works of Miyazawa, making the restaurant a must-visit for fans of the author.

A long standing soba noodle restaurant located a 15-minute drive from the Morioka Interchange. Featured in the media in the past, this establishment is so popular that customers from across Japan keep coming back here for more. There is table seating on the first floor and tatami mat seating on the second. Customers can enjoy Iwate's famous Wanko soba noodles in the tatami mat seating area. In addition to popular staples like kake soba noodles in hot broth and cold soba noodles served on a draining basket, the restaurant offers a variety of seasonal dishes like cold soba noodles with vegetable and matsutake mushroom soba noodles.

Their famous kakko dango dumplings are made in three flavors: mitarashi (sweet soy sauce), sesame and anko (red bean paste). In addition, you can make orders from the cliff opposite the store, and since the dumplings are transported across in a basket, they have become known as flying dango.
