A one-minute walk from Sakamoto-hieizanguchi Station on the Keihan Electric Railway, and 10 minutes from JR Hieizan-Sakamoto Station. This soba noodle restaurant can be reached by taking a right at the Sakamoto Citizens' Center and then taking the next left. The history of the restaurant stretches back over 300 years; it was established in 1716 by a man who worked in the Enryakuji Temple's kitchen. The restaurant employs a basic noodle recipe of 80% buckwheat flour to 20% wheat flour, but the exact proportions are adjusted daily based on the outside temperature and humidity. A bread bakery situated along National Route 303 in Kinomoto Kinomoto-cho, Nagahama City. Examples of breads and bread-based foods made by the bakery which have been a favorite of locals for many years include the signature “Salad Pan,” a sandwich offered since the establishment first opened in 1951 consisting of takuan pickled daikon radish and mayonnaise served in a “koppe pan” bread roll; the simply named “Sandwich,” which consists of just mayonnaise and fish ham served on shokupan bread; the “Castella Sandwich;” and “Lunch Pan” bread.

This is a restaurant in Nagahama City where you can taste the home-cooked specialty of “Yakisaba Somen” (fine white noodles with grilled mackerel) which is characteristic of Kohoku. This specialty of boiled fine white noodles and meaty grilled mackerel arouses an appetite for a somewhat strong seasoning. The set menu is also substantial; there are also “O-zen” (a four-legged tray for festive food) which can be enjoyed together with grilled mackerel sushi and “Toban-yaki” (a roast on a ceramic plate) of Omi beef. The store now makes use of a merchant’s house constructed approximately 200 years ago, having in some respects an aura which feels nostalgic. It is also known as a famous shop where queues can be seen.

We decided to drive 30min from Hikone just to find out how good is the signature Mackerel and it was indeed very special. The Mackerel could be ordered as a whole or I think most visitors went for...

"A two-minute walk from JR Omihachiman Station. This restaurant is owned and operated by longstanding Omi beef company Kanekichi Yamamoto Foods. Here customers can enjoy veritable ""works of art interweaving material and craft"" prepared by skilled chefs expertly versed in the exquisite Omi beef personally chosen by the proprietor. Particularly recommended is the Tiffany Omi beef course meal, which comes with an appetizer, chilled tenderloin and fatty beef toro sushi, and recommended Tiffany cause, assorted Obi beef dishes including an Omi beef loin steak. It is inside Biwako Otsu Hotel, which used to be Biwako Hotel, and customers can enjoy the restaurant's French culinary creations while looking at the scenery of Lake Biwa. The herbs used in the natural, healthy food are pesticide-free. The open terrace is also very spacious and since it is also partially a dock cafe, it is a convenient place to rest during a walk.

Wurzburg is a German restaurant located a 10-minute walk from Nishiki Station on the Keihan Ishisaka Line. In addition to genuine German-style beer and Franken wine, Wurzburg serves Schnitzel, sausages, and other German-style home cooking. The view of Lake Biwa from the restaurant is relaxing, and the German-style interior has an elegant, antique atmosphere. Pets are welcome on the outdoor terrace. In addition to enjoying authentic German cuisine, diners can enjoy the traditional, German-style building. The wait staff all wear folk costumes, which adds to the atmosphere.

The restaurant has some good dishes but it is a little on the expensive side. The staff are friendly but language ability was a problem using English.
