    Osaka Osakashi Chuou-ku Doutombori 1-6-18
One of the symbols of Osaka and the Dotonbori, this crab restaurant is easily identified by its giant moving crab sign. Here diners can enjoy fresh crab year round, sourced from locations such as the San’in region and Hokkaido as appropriate to the season. The restaurant’s signature menu option is its “kani-suki course,” with which diners can enjoy crab with the restaurant’s secret dashi stock. The colorful “kani kaiseki” course meal is also popular for parties and banquets. A popular destination for tourists, the restaurant also sells its special crab vinegar and crab rice gruel in convenient packages to take home as souvenirs.

First off. It is expensive with the cheapest set at ¥5,500 before tax but I guess you’re getting what you are paying for. The service is exceptional even if we are English speaking tourists. It is...

    Tokyo Chuou-ku Ginza 8-7-6
This sushi restaurant in Ginza is famous for its traditional Edo-mae sushi that makes use of the taste and season of its ingredients. Ever since it was founded in 1935, it has been visited by many VIPs including those from the political world. Guests can choose between counter seats, hori-gotatsu recessed floor seats, table seats, and private rooms. In recent years it has also become popular with foreign tourists for the ability to enjoy a relaxed meal in a Japanese-style space known as “modern sukiya-zukuri.” It also has a complete take-out menu featuring futomaki (a thick roll of sushi) and bara-chirashi.

My best advice would be to go here the first night or as early as you can in your trip, because after eating here you are going to want to go back!!! It was the absolute best Omakase sushi we had our...

The Airport Restaurant is located on the left-hand side of the first floor in the Arrivals building at Naha Airport. Although mainly intended for airport employees, non-employees are welcome to use the Restaurant, and many tourists eat there. Diners can enjoy classic Okinawa dishes such as Okinawa-style Soba Noodles, Chanpuru (a stir-fried dish), Champon (rice with fried vegetables, meat and eggs), etc. for very reasonable prices (around 600 yen).

I had a transit flight for Ishigaki Island, I looked forward to trying this restaurant as I heard about positive feedback. Soki soba was good maybe because of super reasonable price. Other local...

With a long history since its founding in 1707, it has an Ise-like gabled roof and a large signboard with gold lettering as its marker, and is open from 5:00 a.m. in accordance with the start of shrine visits. You can enjoy a set with akafuku mochi (pounded rice cake coated with red bean paste) and Japanese green tea, and akafuku zenzai (sweet bean soup with toasted mochi rice cake) at the main branch’s cafe. They also add “akafuku-gori” shaved ice to the menu during the summer. It is located approximately six minutes by car from the Ise Expressway Ise Interchange.

Oh I miss the red bean soup in Japan. Comforting hot red bean soup with cooling autumn weather is a prefect match. They provide some sour plum to counter the sweetness of the red bean soup. But truly...

This is a gourmet burger restaurant located in the Bay area of Hakodate in Hokkaido, and its colorful clown signboard is a landmark. The interior of the restaurant is like a forest with the keynote being green, and there is a merry-go-round style wooden horse and swinging seats, with an atmosphere which is the same as an amusement park. The most popular burger is the “Chinese chicken” which has a Chinese flavored salty-sweet sauce. For groups, the gigantic “Mount Hakodate Burger” where three burgers can be enjoyed together is also popular.

A must try burger shop. There are many branches in Hakodate areas. My family each ordered different kind of burger and they are all taste good. The couple sitting next to us ordered a “curry rice” (I...

Visitors can enjoy dishes such as okonomiyaki, monjayaki, and teppanyaki that are all made with dashi seasoning free of any chemical seasonings. They also offer an all-you-can-eat menu and course menu for dinner parties, and the inexpensive all-you-can-eat option that is limited to weekday lunch times is particularly popular. Eat inside and enjoy the artistic and colorful wall art, or take advantage of the spacious outdoor terrace seating.

This natural pork bone ramen shop opened in 1960 in Fukuoka, and it is the main location of a chain that is beloved nationwide. The soup is light on the unique pork bone taste and aroma, and it contains a secret sauce made from chili peppers that floats on the surface. Visitors can adjust the toughness of the noodles and the richness of the soup as they see fit. This location offers a “concentration counter” in which the seats are separated by walls, allowing customers to focus on enjoying the bowl of ramen in front of them. The atmosphere of the first floor is redolent of food stalls, and many original menu options are available. The closest station is Nakasu-Kawabata Station.

When she found out that Ichiran started in Fukuoka, my wife insisted we make a pilgrimage to its main branch. Its basically a 10 floor temple dedicated to the worship of Ramen. Admittedly, the food...

Their tuna sushi, which is a set with two fresh otoro and chutoro tuna sushi each and a thin tuna sushi roll is recommended. Besides sushi, there is also a large number of a la carte dishes, and the shop requires a reservation. It is highly accessible because it is located within walking distance of the city area.

    Gifu Pref. Takayamashi Kamichinomachi 94
A conspicuous Hamburger specialty restaurant located in Takayama City in an area where much atmospheric, old architecture remains. The restaurant’s long and narrow “space for eating Hamburgers” stretches away from the entrance, and the establishment’s eye-catching décor will make you forget you’re in Japan’s Hida-Takayama region. The restaurant’s signature menu selection is its Hida beef burger—made with ingredients from Hida and limited to just a few customers each day, this original recipe Hamburger is also popular with visiting international tourists. The restaurant’s large menu also includes the unshakably popular bacon cheeseburger as well as the avocado burger, particularly popular with women. The restaurant also carries beers from around the world and a wide selection of other drinks.

Yummy burgers, lovely little place! The service was friendly and polite, and respectful of our privacy. Make sure you arrive early to enjoy the Hida beef burger!

This restaurant inside a kominka (old house) was established in 1966, and is located between JR Takayama Station and the old townscape. They offer dishes centered on local ingredients such as a hoba miso steak set with Hida beef grilled on magnolia leaves with miso, and a mountain vegetable set using Hida-grown vegetables and trout stewed in soy sauce and sugar. There are also ceramic plate-grilled dishes with chicken giblets and leeks cooked in a secret soy sauce-based tare (dipping sauce), a broiled dish called “suzuya-nabe” (sliced beef, vegetables, tofu and noodles boiled with sweet soy sauce) using Hida miso, and hot pot dishes. In addition, they offer a vegetarian menu with dishes that allow you to sufficiently enjoy the taste of Hida.

We were recommended this restaurant from staff from J-Hoppers and it did not disappoint. Staff were super attentive to our allergy needs (sesame and cashews/pistachios) which made for a relaxing...

    Osaka Osakashi Chuou-ku Doutombori 1-5-5
Okonomiyaki CHIBO is a restaurant specializing in Okonomiyaki (savory pancakes), located in Dotonbori in the Chuo Ward of Osaka City. The restaurant’s original pancake mix—which is made from around 20 different types of flour mixed with high-quality onsen water—ensures plump pancakes with a mellow flavor. Okonomiyaki CHIBO pays particular attention to its sauces, which play a key role in enhancing the flavor; the restaurant’s low-calorie original sauces are made using carefully-selected fruits and vegetables. The spacious dining area, with around 200 seats, is kept spotlessly clean, and the restaurant is a popular choice for dates and for women to get together with their female friends.

Delicious and fun watching the cooks perform. Food was great and every well priced. Portions are huge and the staff very friendly. Recommending to share one portion of okonomiyaki for two.
