    Tokyo Taitou-ku Asakusa 1-1-1
Japan’s first Western-style bar, founded in 1880. Here patrons can enjoy an “electric brandy,” a cocktail which has become a symbol of Asakusa. The unique name was invented in the Meiji period, a time when electricity was a rare sight, and is derived from the cocktail’s then-shocking 45% alcohol volume. Note that today, however, the electric brandy is served at 30%. Closest Station: Asakusa Station.

Kamiya would be totally at home in Cologne or Frankfurt. It has a lot of Japanese twists, like milk bread rolls and a delicious Japanese style potatoe salad, but they only add to the great feel.

This izakaya (Japanese-style pub) is located in Naka Ward, Hiroshima City. There, guests can enjoy a wide variety of Japanese sake together with dishes made with plenty of seafood from the Seto Inland Sea including anago no shirayaki (conger eel grilled without seasoning) and unihoren (sea urchin and sauteed spinach). The popular izakaya is notable for its unique interior, especially its entrance (a hole punched in a wall), and for the way it operates, such as the lack of prices on the menu.

Nice cozy izakaya located in a seedy street. Didn’t try the food but the beer was very expensive, we were charged 800¥ for a small basic beer.

Ibaraki Pref. Mitoshi Jounan 1-5-16 second Kiyozumi building 1F
A stylish, hideaway-style Japanese izakaya pub located a short walk from the south exit of JR Mito Station. After passing through a long entranceway, customers are greeted by low level lighting and a laid-back atmosphere. The pub has totally private and box-type semi-private seating. Dedicated to local production for local consumption, the pub offers dishes made with fish, meat, and vegetables from Ibaraki Prefecture like seared fatty Hitachi beef sashimi, fried natto (karaage), and sashimi assortments. The pub's melon cream sodas, limited to just five customers a day and served in a whole Ibaraki-grown muskmelon, are particularly eye-catching.

A cafe located close to Minato Park an eight-minute walk from JR Motomachi Station.
