This is the first “bills” in Japan, an Australian all-day casual dining experience found in the fashionable “WEEKEND HOUSE ALLEY” along Shichirigahama Beach. One can enjoy select fresh seasonal food while sitting on the terrace with an unbroken view of Shichirigahama Beach.

Probably the best views of any place around here, but not cheap. Id get there early to avoid having the queue.

At this restaurant approximately two minutes on foot from Enoden Shichirigahama Station, you can enjoy their popular curry while taking in the view of Shichirigahama Beach in Kamakura. This is one of Kamakura's best-known shops for curry, including their pork curry made with high-grade pork raised in Yokohama. They also have appetizers like carpaccio, and a wide variety of meat and seafood dishes.

We had the stroganoff, the pork lemon, the fried fish wrapped in lettuce and the seafood salad. We went on a Friday lunch and we can see that this place can be crowded on the weekends. We also sat...

This is a drive-in-café located on the seaward side of highway 134, in the middle of the Shichirigahama beachfront parking lot. From the terrace seats and inside, one can see Enoshima and Mt. Fuji. Opening at 8am on weekends and holidays, one can enjoy a relaxed breakfast like a true Hawaiian local. The menu features local specialties focused around Hawaiian plate cuisine, such as Kahuku’s famous “garlic shrimp plate,” with takeout also available.

Went for late lunch - husband had loco moco, I had the chicken plate both disappointing. Last year we went for brunch and had coffee and scones which we remembered as being very good hence the...

A seven-minute walk from Odawara Station, this longstanding Japanese restaurant was founded in 1893, and you can feel the history in the grand castle-like architecture, which is a Registered Tangible Cultural Property. The first-floor dining hall mainly offers set meals and rice bowl dishes, with the “tendon” (tempura bowl) and its rich sesame oil scent being especially popular. The local catch sashimi set is popular as well. Upstairs is tatami seating, where they serve banquet-style “kaiseki ryori” featuring select vegetables and fresh fish caught in Sagami Bay, among other dishes.

It was a pleasure to dine at this 100+ year old restaurant which specializes in sea food dishes. The food was delicious, service prompt & friendly & the ambiance pleasant. Highly recommended.,

The home location of Toshimaya, a sweet shop which sells the classic Kamakura souvenir, the hato sablé. The hato sablé (“pigeon cookie,” named after its shape) was first made in 1897. The rich, buttery flavor has long been one of Kamakura’s go-to souvenirs. Located close to the Ni no Torii gate on Wakamiya Oji, the Toshimaya here also sells hato sablé goods found nowhere else.

My colleague who has lived in Japan for a number of years that this is the must-visit shop in Kamakura. Its specialty is the thin bird cookies that it has been baking for decades. When I went there...

This is an Italian restaurant with views of the Shonan sea, located at the long stairway crossing the tracks from Enoden Shichirigahama Station. It is popular with visitors who come to see the 180-degree panoramic view available from the terrace. Stone-baked pizza is the focus, and one can enjoy wine with unpretentious Italian cuisine.

Besides the great food, the place also has a beautiful view of the sea, Enoshima and also we could see Mt. Fuji. We strongly recommend afternoon drinks by the terrace and a delicious dinner.

This is a fisherman’s cuisine restaurant where one can taste fresh fish including transparent “raw shirasu (young sardines).” They are fresh because they come from the first morning catch of their own boat “Asamaru,” which sails the Shonan sea at daybreak. The interior is styled in a way that evokes the atmosphere of the inside of a ship. There is also a children’s menu available and bringing young ones is recommended.

A café and sweet shop inside a renovated home located in a quiet residential neighborhood an eight-minute walk from Kamakura Station’s West Exit. This famous shop’s anmitsu (syrup-covered sweet bean jam and fruit), topped with giant, chewy shiratama flour dumplings made with your order, is particularly popular, and both Japanese and international tourists alike line up to enjoy it. With selections like the Uji shiratama cream anmitsu, covered with matcha syrup, and Shiratama fruit cream anmitsu, topped with piles of fruit, you’ll have a tough time choosing.

Kirara offers the best traditional Japanese dessert in Kamakura. The location of Kirara is not far off from Kamakura Station, although you do have to walk about 15-20 minutes to get there from the...

You can also enjoy your meal with original craft beers shipped direct from Kamakura Beer. The two adjoining shops sell tableware, foodstuffs, everyday lifestyle goods, and gardening goods.

    Kanagawa Pref. Kamakurashi Yuigahama 4-10-3
A soba noodle restaurant located a few minutes away from Yuigahama Station operating out of a remodeled Japanese home which has watched over the streets of Kamakura and the ocean of Yuigahama for 70 years. Once you take your shoes off and enter the residence-cum-restaurant, you’ll feel like you’re visiting the home of a trusted friend. In the restaurant’s relaxing Japanese-style rooms, you can take your time and enjoy a la carte dishes together with sake and wine. The restaurant doesn’t close for any breaks between when it first opens and closes and thus is also recommended for a late lunch or early dinner.

Found this on TripAdvisor spontaneously. It’s a bit hard to find if you don’t know where it is but the food is delicious and it is traditional Japanese with seating on the ground and all.

“Caraway” is a well-known European curry house in the first alleyway off of Komachi-dori Street, around a six-minute walk from Kamakura Station. An old shop operating since 1978, there tends to be a queue of Kamakura local fans on weekends who come for the voluminous portions and reasonable prices. A treat is the slow-cooked curry which contains over 30 types of spice and comes with an extra-large helping of rice.

This is probably a first for me. Where the meat comes shredded inside the curry and you don’t have to deal with any chewing, just the texture of curry and white rice. There’s a 30 Yen discount for...

  • Amazake Chaya tea house
    Gourmet / Alcohol
Kanagawa Pref. Ashigarashimogunhakonemachi Hatajuku Nikozan 395-28
This is a Japanese tea house with 400years of tradition located in a dangerous spot of the Tokaido road, halfway up Mt. Hakone. During the Edo period, the tea house was used as a rest area before the Hakone checking station, while nowadays it is more familiar as a rest area for hikers walking through Hakone. The production process for “amazake” (a traditional Japanese drink made from fermented rice) has remained unchanged since ancient times, using koji (rice malt) has been used in the fermentation process since the Edo period; the amazake is non-alcoholic, has a gentle sweetness even though it is produced without sugar, so it has been used to good advantage by travelers to get rid of fatigue. There are also packs of amazake which you can buy to take home. One of the shop’s specialties is also “Chikara-mochi” (a glutinous rice cake) which is gently baked over charcoal until it puffs up.

This is a garden café rich with nature, a 15-minute walk from Kamakura Station. It is also connected to the Great Buddha hiking course from Kitakamakura to Kotokuin Temple, and is a 15-minute walk from the Kamakura Great Buddha statue. From the terrace seats using the natural terrain, one can enjoy a meal while looking out over the scenery of the four seasons. The drink menu includes coffee as well as Kamakura beer. The food menu has extensive options for cakes and other light meals, as well as dishes to match alcohol such as fried Kamakura sausage. A 20 minute walk or a 10 minute bus ride from Enoshima Electric Railway Yuigahama Station. A guesthouse operating out of an old Japanese-style home standing quietly in the Zaimokuza neighborhood, an area which once flourished as a port town. This tiny lodging facility has two private rooms and one dormitory-style room. On the weekends, the facility also operates as a café called Café Kamejikan. The café serves home-style dishes made with fresh, locally-grown vegetables. The café is open to non-guests as well and is a popular place for locals to stop by and relax in.

Renowned for their flavorful, fragrant croissants, Zebra Coffee fresh-bakes them each morning just in time for the café’s opening. The café’s natural Akita sugi Japanese cedar wood interior coupled with its steam engine-like bean roaster and giant espresso machine creates a curious, out-of-the-ordinary atmosphere.

For 140 years Enoshima Uomitei has been the place to go for spectacular sea views from the shore to the horizon. Indulge in the sea's bounty while gazing out at the beautiful scenery from the terrace. Dogs are welcome. Popular menu items include Enoshima rice bowls and shirasu (whitebait) rice bowls. Other dishes with fresh whitebait, spiny lobster, and abalone are also available.
