In the amusement zone where you can have fun with your bathing suits on, there is a collection of unique baths which can be enjoyed by both adults and children such as the “Gods’ Aegean Sea” and the “Authentic Coffee bath”. In the open-air bath “Mori no Yu” which brims with Japanese style, you can melt into the magnificent nature of Hakone in the open-air baths and you can relax comfortably in the bath where the walls, floor and ceiling are clad in Hinoki cypress. Coming for a day trip is of course possible, but as there are also four official hotels it is also feasible to stay.

    This is a nice onsen with several baths and all the facilities you need. There is a free shuttle bus that runs to and from the onsen to Hon Atsugi station.

    A former ryotei traditional Japanese restaurant remodeled and turned into a guesthouse by the owner. The huge irori sunken hearth in the communal area is the guesthouse’s trademark. The facility is a relaxing, “pure Japanese” structure supported by 10 stout wood pillars. Guests are free to use the kitchen and can thus make their own food; the guesthouse also rents bicycles. The bar Little Planet opened underneath in October 2016. Guests can take food and drinks bought in the bar and bring them into the guesthouse above.

The facility is largely divided into two areas, the green Mori no Yu and the Mizumi no Yu areas. Many enjoy the open-air bath for its beautiful view. The hot spring water is also available for sale to take home.

The hot spring makes use of a sodium calcium chloride spring, which is a rare find called “fossil seawater” which was trapped within the earth’s crust due to tectonic movements, so it is highly effective at maintaining body temperature through the rich hot spring materials. It features outdoor and indoor baths. You can enjoy any of various baths, such as the “natural spring silk bath” which warms the body with ultrasonic waves and the concentrated carbonated spring, as well as saunas. There is a rest area, body care, and dining facilities as well.

    お出かけついでに立ち寄ってみました。外観は綺麗そうで期待しましたが、結果して満足はしませんでした。 トイレが臭いし、全体的に清掃が行き届いていないように感じました。あと、お湯がとても塩素臭くて残念でした。循環なので仕方ないかもしれませんが、効能よりも塩素による肌荒れが気になりました。 食事はしなかったのでノーコメントですが、二階に漫画が結構あるのは時間調整に使えて便利かと思います。

    A hot spring bath house located in the mountains near Hakone-Yumoto just across the Honobono Bridge crossing the Sukumogawa River a short walk from the Oku-Yumoto-Iriguchi bus stop along the upper Old-Tokaido road. The site covers nearly 8,000-tsubo (nearly 26,500 square meters) and is home to seven springs. The men's bath has five tubs and the women's six each offering a variety of temperatures and spring types. Among the variety of springs, the alkaline spring with a ph-level of 9.3 is also available for drinking. The spring water is said to help with excess gastric acid levels and hangovers and near the front desk there's a free fountain allowing you to give it a trial. The building is a remodeled classic house and from their relaxation area you can look out over the local verdant greenery. The underfloor heating keeps you warm even in winter allowing you to relax as you exit the bath.

Kanagawa Areas


Kanagawa prefecture acts as an extension of the Tokyo metropolis that spills over into coastal towns, most notably Yokohama city, heavily populated and known for its Chinatown and seaside attractions. Just the right distance for a day trip out of Tokyo, Kanagawa is home to some of Tokyo’s most accessible beaches, including around Kamakura, best known for its Big Buddha. Visitors can also travel a little farther afield for a weekend at Hakone onsen town.
