This is a public hot spring bath made of wood where reportedly Yoshida Shoin once visited, and which was opened as a hot spring heath retreat in 1731. The source spring flows from immediately behind the building, and you can enjoy fresh hot springs at any time. The hot water is milky white, and is mildly acidic, gentle to the skin. The water has the effect of promoting circulation around the whole body, so it is said to also have benefits for heart disease and hypertension. It is five-minute walk from Ryokan Seiunso Inn.

Room is larger than what I expected. 8 tatami mats plus alpha space is so enough for 2 people. Sulfurous hot spring relaxed us well. Jigoku is 15 minutes on foot from this hotel. We enjoyed...

This is a public hot spring bath in the Shinyu district of Unzen Hot Spring. You can enjoy the water flowing from the source drawn from just behind Unzen Hell springs. The baths are simple, made only of bathtubs and places to wash, but the good quality sulfur springs are attracting popularity from locals and tourists. Admission fee is a very reasonable 100 yen per adult, and 50 yen per child. It is a two-minute walk from the “Unzen Visitor Center” bus stop.

    雲仙の温泉街の入り口にあり、純和風のホテルで、男女別の浴槽が1つずつありますが、時間で男女が変わる浴室もありますが、中二階にあるので、やや分かりにくいです。

    Accommodations / Hot Spring
    Nagasaki Pref. Saseboshi Daitouchou 1036-1
This is an eco-friendly bathhouse which gets its heat from garbage burned at the Tobu Clean Center. Inside the facility are the natural hot spring-fed “Hiyakunen-no-Yu” and saunas, 100% source warm-water swimming pools, and a training gym, all of which can be used freely with the entry ticket (only the private family baths cost extra). The “Hiyakunen-no-Yu” bath can be a little strong, but its effect in treating cuts and burns as well as making one’s skin smooth after bathing has earned it the name “Bijin-no-Yu,” which means “beautiful woman bath.”

A hot spring district located in Unzen-Amakusa National Park, Japan's first national park, and one of its biggest appeals is its commanding view of Mt. The area's colorless or milky white acidic sulfur springs are strongly antibacterial and are said to aid in recovery from fatigue and promote health in addition to easing eczema, frostbite, cuts, and other ailments.

Nagasaki Main Areas

around-area-map

This hidden corner of the country is rural Japan at its best, where underground activity is to thank for active volcanoes and bubbling natural hot springs along the Shimabara Peninsula as well as the crystal clear waters of the Goto Islands off the west coast. Less well known than Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park, Nagasaki commemorates its own past at the Nagasaki Peace Park, which sits alongside the charming Meganebashi stone bridge and a mix of religious buildings with beautiful architecture, such as the Zen Buddhist Sofukuji Temple, the Confucian Shrine, and the Oura Christian Church.
