A hot spring bath facility located at the foot of Mt. Kurama, known as Kyoto’s parlor. In addition to a spacious large bath, visitors can enjoy the secluded atmosphere of the open-air bath while enjoying the rich greenery of the surrounding mountains. Also equipped with a relaxing resting room for use after your bath, the facility is perfect for a day trip. There is also an adjoining inn. Kurama Station on the Eizan Electric Railway is the closest station to the bath house.

We travelled to Kibune on the train on October 27 2018. Railway now open but walk over top of mountain seemed to be closed due to storm damage. We walked up to Kibune from Kibuneguchi Station. Walked...

There are two kinds of free-flowing medicinal hot springs at Nizaemon-no-Yu, which features Kyoto's only stone spa that men and women can use together. Its Utsusemi outdoor bath with large stones scattered about is highly popular, as is its Fujitsubo outdoor bath with a hot mist-spouting kamaburo steam bath landscaped with plant life, water, and stones. After your soak, head to their eatery Nizashokudo to relax in the old-time atmosphere of a reconstructed traditional house from Shiga.

Nizaemonnoyu is a natural hot spring in Katsura. The quality of water is very good, and you can even feel it by bathing. However the facility is old and poor. Although there is Ganbanyoku, bath on...

    Kyoto Miyazu-shi Monju 640-73
"A day-trip hot spring bathhouse located next to Amanohashidate Station. The springs were named in hopes that bathers would be awarded the wisdom and health of the Monju Bosatsu enshrined at Chion-ji Temple, one of the three Japanese famous Monju, famous for the proverb ""Monju no chie,"" meaning ""Two heads are better than one."" Baths include an outdoor bath as well as hand and foot baths allowing you to enjoy the Amanohashidate Spring, known for its healthy skin benefits."

Kyoto Areas

around-area-map

Its wooden tea houses, shuffling geisha, and spiritual sights have seen Kyoto hailed as the heart of traditional Japan, a world apart from ultramodern Tokyo. Despite being the Japanese capital for over a century, Kyoto escaped destruction during World War II, leaving behind a fascinating history which can be felt at every turn, from the fully gold-plated Kinkakuji Temple down to traditional customs such as geisha performances and tea ceremonies, which are still practiced to this day.
