This facility is located near the center of Tottori City. The bath room of Hakkakuendo, closely resembling the octagonal Yumedono (Hall of Dreams) of Horyu-ji Temple, offers six types of bath, such as open-air baths and bath tubs made of Japanese cypress. Guests can casually enjoy the natural hot spring.

We were at this hotel a few days before Christmas, Dec. 2019. We are a couple, and our friend had booked it for us. (She was also traveling with us.) One of the tricks to traveling light in Japan, is...

This long-established inn in Misasa Hot Spring is also a Nationally Registered Tangible Cultural Property. Visitors can enjoy the tasteful atmosphere and private water source on a day trip. The hot spring water of the “Ashimoto Yushutu Onsen” that flows from between the natural rocks can be enjoyed at the “Gankutu no yu”.

Ryokan Ohashi is a traditional Japanese onsen hotel, quite commonplace in my opinion. We picked it because the alternatives looked even less promising. Very polite staff, normal room (a bit dated...

    Tottori Tohaku-gun Misasacho Yamada 5
A hot spring hotel at Misasa Onsen, one of the world's leading radioactive springs, with a high concentration of radon. You'll have a superb stay with top class hospitality, and cuisine that's produced locally for local consumption. The spacious bathhouses switch between men's and women's bathing areas in the morning and evening. You'll revel in the hot spring water flowing freely from the facility's three thermal sources. Steam from the radium spring rises from the indoor bath, and you can feel the healing properties inside the body every time you breathe. Misasa Onsen, with its over 800 year history, got its name from a legend that said that people soaking there would be cured of illness on the morning of the third day (the Chinese characters for Misasa mean three mornings).

We were a group of 5 and we had booked a room with a private onsen. The staff were very attentive. Before we even asked, they brought us a wheelchair given we had an elderly travelling with us. The...

At this hot spring inn guests can enjoy water flowing directly from two hot spring sources into all the baths. Day trips to the onsen are also available and the outdoor bath overlooking the lake is popular. It is said to be a bath for beautiful skin as the water incorporates a large amount of metasilicate, a component for beautiful skin.

I went there with my wife for a couple of days and absolutely loved it. The rooms are nice and clean and smell fantastic. The hotel staff are chirpy and talkative and make you feel comfortable from...

Kabu-yu, a public bathhouse of Misasa Onsen in Misasa Town, Tohaku County, Tottori Prefecture, is situated a little way from the center of the hot spring resort. The baths and exterior of the building were renovated in 2010. It is said that the name Kabu-yu originates from the hot water which sprung out from the base of a tree. The hot spring has long been popular as a bathhouse for the local residents. There is one bath with a high water temperature in the stone-slabbed bathroom. There is a foot bath and spring water for drinking in the entranceway.

A day trip hot spring bath facility in the center of the Misasa Onsen hot spring district in Misasa Town, Tohaku County Tottori Prefecture. The bathhouse’s waters are drawn from a natural radon hot spring; the facility’s name is a reference to the fact that it is said they are said to have been a gift from a bodhisattva. An old-fashioned community-maintained bathhouse facility recently remodeled, bathers can enjoy baths constantly replenished from the natural source for a reasonable fee. There’s also a shop selling souvenirs and hot spring merchandise, as well as a rest area and café space. The adjoining tourist information center provides useful area info.

This spa is located 10 minutes from the Daisenkogen Smart Interchange on the Yonago Expressway. The spa has a day-use bathhouse with a hot spring tub and outdoor bath, and a heated pool area where swimsuits are required. The spa's Yukihada Sauna, the San'in region's first cold sauna, beautifies and tightens the skin. Kept between 1 and 4° C, the sauna is less stressful on the body than more traditional cold water bath therapies. The waters of the bathhouse' alkaline simple spring are drawn up from 1,150 meters underground and are said to have a refreshing effect and to treat nerve pain and sensitivity to cold.

This day-use hot spring bathhouse is located 800 meters from the Chuzan Interchange on the San-in Expressway. The waters of the bathhouse' alkaline simple spring are popular because they have a slippery smooth texture similar to those of Gero Onsen, counted as one of Japan's three most famous springs. The bathhouse is replete with two bathing areas: the black accented, stone-tiled Hamanasu no Yu; and the brown-accented, ceramic tiled Zanka no Yu. Which one is the men's area and which the women's alternates on a weekly basis; each area is outfitted with a large bath, jacuzzi, low temperature sauna, and other facilities. Customers rave about the skin beautifying properties of the bathhouse' spring and say that bathing in their waters for just five minutes will leave your skin silky smooth.

A day-use hot spring bathhouse located at the foot of Mt. Daisen, the renowned San'in peak. Its hot spring water is pumped from a depth of 1,200 meters. Deeper than underground water, it's not effected by conditions on the surface, so it does not contain nitrates or nitrites. You'll enjoy this simple alkaline spring that flows freely from the source. Their European-style Garden Bath can accommodate 100 people at a time. Have a leisurely soak, unwind, and absorb its magical world while gazing at the seasonal flowers they care for each morning.

A public bath surrounded by the peaks of Mt. Jubu. Located on the Miyagawa River with its rural scenery, the facility has an outdoor bath, whirlpool, sauna, and footbath. It's fed by a simple, weakly hypotonic, high temperature thermal spring and is said to be effective for nerve pain, muscle soreness, and other conditions. The curved wall of glass blocks at one side of the bathing area gives it an open atmosphere. A great place to unwind and very reasonably priced, and it's become very popular. Their on-site eatery Shikano Soba Dokoro serves soba noodles, a Shikano-cho specialty.

Situated along the Gamou River known as clean stream, the district has a quiet and simple atmosphere. The waters of the area's sulfate springs are said to treat nerve pain, rheumatism, and women's diseases, and, when drunk, gastrointestinal disorders and hemorrhoids. There are also an abundance of sightseeing destinations in the area, including the Old Iwai Elementary School, the oldest extant Western-style building in Tottori Prefecture; Miyu-jinja Shrine, believed to have been constructed in the early Heian period; and the Yukamuri Gallery, an art museum dedicated to the early Showa woman artist Midori Osaki.
