Hotel New Grand

Opened in 1927 (Showa 2), the Hotel New Grand was built as part of the reconstruction plan of Yokohama City. The stately stone building, designed by Jin Watanabe, is renowned as a classic hotel. It is also known that Jiro Obutsu lived there for 10 years and Douglas MacArthur used the hotel for his honeymoon. It has been a favorite of many VIPs, including Charlie Chaplin, Babe Ruth, Yujiro Ishihara, and Yusaku Matsuda.
