This restaurant in Nishidaiku Town, Tokushima city, Tokushima Prefecture specializes in Tokushima ramen, and fans visit from all around the country. There’s often a line outside, and signatures from celebrities adorn the interior. The pork bone and soy sauce soup is flavored with dried fish and other seafood along with vegetables. It’s topped with a raw egg and contains salty-sweet pork back ribs and chewy homemade noodles, which the rich soup complements well. It goes very well with rice, too. Only counter seating is available, but the interior is spacious, so there’s no problem with entering alone.

It says opened from 10:30 AM. I arrived at Inotani 10 minutes prior to that on a Sunday and it was already opened. Keep in mind that winter time the doors are kept closed and it appears to be not in...

Binbiya is a restaurant located on the Awa Highway (National Route 11) in Kitanada Town, Naruto City, Tokushima Prefecture, situated in a beautiful location facing the Seto Inland Sea. In the Tokushima dialect, “binbi” means fish. Using freshly caught local fish every day, Binbiya offers a variety of food on the menu such as sashimi, tempura, boiled fish, kamameshi (rice, meat and vegetables served in a small pot), and curry, etc. The restaurant’s omakase (today’s special) set meal is a popular meal of sashimi, tempura, and another food of the day, served with a bowl of rice and miso soup with seaweed from the Seto Inland Sea. People can often be found queuing to get into this popular restaurant.

We managed to get a table here for a lunchtime spot and had a great meal - must try the wakame - all of the fish dishes we had were excellent.

This restaurant is located in Muya Town, Naruto City, Tokushima Prefecture. Enjoy your meal at table seating or in a tatami room with a harmonious and soft atmosphere. In-season fish from the Naruto seas are the main ingredients. You can watch lively fish swim in the shop tank too. Recommended dishes include the “special selection sashimi teishoku” with a variety of fresh sashimi and the crispy, fried “special selection tempura teishoku.” The set meals come with wakame sea weed soup packed with Naruto wakame. Lots of local sake and shochu available too.

If you have an opportunity to come around here, I strongly recommend to go to this restaurant. You may stand in line for a long time to enter, but I assure to be able to eat very nice fresh fish and...

This is a Tokushima B-class gourmet (reasonable and delicious) ramen shop. It serves ramen in rich soup made from slowly-cooked pork bones. The main topping is thinly-sliced pork belly simmered in a sweet but spicy marinade. Each table has a bowl of raw eggs and you can add as many of these to your noodles as you like. The shop’s website shows a photo of ramen topped with the yolk only, rather than the whole egg. You can also add marinated soft-boiled eggs so you can enjoy two different flavors of eggs.

I can’t believe these Tokushima ramen are not the latest fashion in Tokyo. I think I have just found my favourite style. Great soup taste, salty and sweet, hearty as anything could get. Thin noodles...

This restaurant specializes in chicken dishes and can be found on the second floor of the Acty Annex building in Nakano Town, Tokushima City, Tokushima Prefecture. It is famous among locals and tourists alike for its Awaodori chicken, a Tokushima specialty that was perfected over the course of a decade. This diner offers a full range of delicious fishermen’s cuisine made with fresh local fish. They offer highly fresh seafood including grilled seafood assortments and yellowtail sashimi at affordable prices. Although its availability is subject to the weather and the catch, we recommend their namashirasu-don (raw whitebait served on rice). In the winter, the restaurant offers all-you-can-eat grilled oysters from Uchinoumi (inland sea), Naruto City, Tokushima Prefecture or Shido, Sanuki City, Kagawa Prefecture, which is so popular that it requires a reservation.

We have eaten at the other restaurant Bibimya just before and this restaurant is reached by driving along the coast along national road number 11 away from Tokushima. We actually wanted to buy...

The first floor has a retail shop offering souvenirs, local specialties and famous products, the second floor has table seating, and the third floor is a restaurant with tatami seating—offering bento boxes and kaiseki courses loaded with local sea fare, like lively sea bream and octopus. Specialty items like famous Naruto sweet potatoes, sudachi and wakame are recommended, as are the famed “Tai-meshi bento”, the healthy “Naruto wakame” set meal, and the fresh and crisp “Uzunoya tai-don.”

The hearty yoseyaki is popular at this okonomiyaki (savory pancakes) restaurant. The restaurant, beloved in Tokushima for over 50 years, has many long-term fans. Its varied menu includes suyaki (cabbage-only okonomiyaki), yoseyaki (okonomiyaki with meat, squid, shrimp, egg, and cabbage), yosemameyaki (yoseyaki with beans), and many other combinations to enjoy. Customers can also take their food home and can even order take-out by phone starting at 9 a.m.

Some of the popular items at this izakaya (Japanese-style pub) include their famous Tokushima gyoza (pot stickers), their honetsuki-dori (roasted bone-in chicken), and their garlic and soy sauce sautéed Irikasu, a Tokushima delicacy. They offer a menu full of delicious and safe dishes made with ingredients sourced locally in Shikoku. The izakaya offers two different course meals which can also be paired with two hours of all-you-can-drink. Course meals require a reservation for at least four diners.

Tried the local delicacy - Chicken and tea rice, also ordered pork with rice and Chinese dumplings. Food was average. Not much choice around the area.

Cafe Takashima is a long-established café, founded in 1959. The retro-style wooden pot-shaped sign outside the café is very striking; apparently the café owner spotted this sign while on a trip to Italy, fell in love with it, and bought it to take back to Japan. Inside the café, the large table made from a single plank of wood, with a very tasteful design, attracts the eye. One of the most popular items on the menu is the hamburgers, which are made by heating the buns on a specially-made metal plate; rather than using regular round buns, the café uses thin slices of bread. The café’s Special Burgers include hamburger meat, ham, eggs, cheese and vegetables, providing a very substantial meal at a reasonable price.

Sweet options like jam and pineapple toast 350円, peanut butter chocolate and banana toast 400円, or savory items like ham egg cheese vegetables sandwich 480円, hamburger hashed beef egg cheese sandwich...

Tokushima Pref. Komatsushimashi Chudenchou Okubayashi 60-1
The main Okamoto Chuka shop is located along Prefectural Route 17 that bisects Komatsushima City, Tokushima Prefecture. This Tokushima ramen shop has continued the tradition of making ramen since their beginnings as a ramen stand shortly after the war. Straight medium-fat noodles are entwined in the rich pork bone based Tonkotsu broth. The meat ladened Chuka Soba Nikuiri is recommended for its Chashu slices, cut from Awa pork, amply served atop the noodles covering the whole bowl. The popular sushi from the Komatsushima main shop is a locally held secret as well.

    細麺で、ややあっさりめのとんこつ、塩味は強めのラーメンでした。人気店のようで、タイミングによっては並ぶようですが、偶然すぐに入れました。煮卵も半熟で美味しかったです。

Beloved for more than four decades, this ramen-shop in Naruto City, Tokushima makes all of their ramen and tsukemen noodles in-house. The ever-lively restaurant also offers a full range of toppings and side items.

About 10 minutes on foot from Awatomida Station. This Japanese-style restaurant focuses on serving high quality local sake and fish from Tokushima. Visitors from outside Tokushima come for a relaxing meal in the peaceful atmosphere of grace and wood. “Tai-meshi course” is recommended—a full, grilled Naruto sea bream caught in the Naruto Strait. The luxury of flavor and firm succulent meat is tops—even among natural sea bream. You can also enjoy local Awa sake, and boiled dishes and sashimi made with fresh, local fish.

This ramen shop is popular for both its soup, a perfectly balanced blend of a pork bone stock that takes eight hours to made and a soy-based sauce, as well as its noodles, which are carefully cut to particular lengths and thickness. The richly flavorful soup is so good you will find yourself drinking every last drop. There are three menu options to choose from: Shina Soba, Shina Soba with meat and a raw egg, and Shina Soba with chashu pork slices (marinated and braised pork). The shop closes as soon as it runs out of soup for the day.

This shop offers freshly-fried churros made with Tokushima rice flour and flavored with seasonings such as seaweed salt which is produced in Tokushima Prefecture's Kaifu County and Awa Wasanbon sugar. The Tokushima Station store is conveniently located a one-minute walk JR Tokushima within the rotary in front of the station. In addition to several varieties of churro, some of the café’s other popular items include sudachi squash, the “soul drink” of Tokushima, sudachi sorbet, and soft-serve ice cream topped with oiri (colorful soft rice crackers).

This okonomiyaki restaurant opened in 1952 and is about a five-minute walk from Tokushima Station. It’s famous among the locals and is loved by everyone from families to students and office workers coming home from work. Along with the longstanding traditional menu, there’s also okonomiyaki enjoyed by many patrons made from famous Awa ingredients. The okonomiyaki made with plump beans and Naruto red kidney beans are also popular choices. There’s also a rich menu featuring grilled teppanyaki seafood, various side dishes, and sake. The courtyard can be seen from the counter seats, and there’s also tatami seating that can accommodate 40, so visitors can choose whichever fits their purpose.

This is my favorite Japanese restaurant in the town. Service staff members were very professional and foods were great. Their Japanese garden is worth the visit.
