Great little French bistro. Not fancy or expensive but the food is good and it’s right on the river. I liked the beef bourguignon and cakes. Nice wine and coffee.

It is an attractive cafe with a classical atmosphere which is located along the former Yamate-dori Avenue. It is possible to pleasantly pass the time in this open-air space while bathing in the sunlight shining through the Zelkova trees which are in excess of 300 years old. It has the appearance of being a reproduction of a good old Italian cafe, which has been finished with antique-style furniture. There are mainly Italian dishes such as paninis and pastas. There are also various kinds of desserts and alcoholic drinks available.

An apple pie and sweets shop produced by Akiko Hirano located a four minute walk from Daikan-yama Station. The name Matsunosuke comes from Hirano's grandfather, who was a Noh costume artisan. Here you can enjoy healthy baked sweets and traditional treats from New England in the U.S. Particularly popular are the authentic American apple pies, made by baking fresh, uncooked apples wrapped as-is in the pie crust; and the rich, creamy New York cheesecake. The shop's fluffy pancake lunch is only served on weekdays.

Must visit if you love pancakes. After 10 am the have the best pancakes I’ve ever eaten in this tiny restaurant. Worth the trip if you are in Kyoto.

This veteran Western confectionary was founded in 1933. It's hallmark item is the Mont Blanc cake the shop's named after. Yellow candied chestnut cream is topped with whipped cream resembling the snow-capped peak of Mt. Blanc. It's said to be the first shop to make Mont Blanc cake in Japan. They offer a variety of sweets made with chestnuts, like Mont Blanc for grown-ups that brings out the bitterness of the chestnuts and chestnut roll cakes. There's also a large cafe area, so guests can choose to eat in or take away.
