Yukura Creative Soba Cuisine is only a two-minute drive from Kanaya Station and about 10 minutes from Fujisan Airport, in a location that offers views of Mt. Fuji in clear weather. It offers a wide-ranging menu, including the usual Zarusoba (soba served on a bamboo tray) and Kakesoba (soba in broth). In the fall and winter it serves soba with oyster tempura, and it has many other dishes that are available only in certain seasons. In addition to soba, Yukura serves sashimi (slices of raw fish), tempura (battered and deep fried seafood and vegetables), and desserts and juice drinks that are made in-house. As one might expect from a restaurant located in Shizuoka Prefecture, a prix fixe dinner centered on green tea is served during the season when tea leaves are harvested. The restaurant's ability to meet many needs has guaranteed its popularity, and it even has a banquet room that seats 50 people.

    Shizuoka Shuchi-gun Morimachi Ichimiya 2431-2
A soba restaurant located in the old Totomi-Ichinomiya Station building (a National Tangible Cultural Property), a six-minute drive from the Enshu-Morimachi Smart Interchange or a ten-minute drive from the Mori-Kakegawa Interchange. The owners provided hand-made soba noodle taking great care not only with the buckwheat in their noodles but also with their spices and broth. The simple menu consists of just two varieties of soba, Zarusoba (supple noodles without the epidermis of buckwheat grains) and Inakasoba (thick and strong noodles using buckwheat epidermis), along with alcoholic beverage and Yaki Miso (savory grilled miso) that go well with sake and other alcoholic drinks. This popular restaurant is often very crowded. Since the food is prepared in limited quantities, the restaurant may close when it runs out. Reservations are recommended for guests who really want to eat here.

    Shizuoka Shuchi-gun Morimachi Mori 584-1
A traditional Japanese confectionary located along Prefectural Route 278, southwest of the Shimojuku bus stop. It was founded during the Meiji period (1868-1912) by a pupil of the inventor of the local plum-flavored sweet Umegoromo. This shop's version preserves a recipe that has been used continuously since the very beginning. It starts with a delicate rice paste filled with smooth bean paste and wrapped in a shiso leave that has been boiled in sugar. The superb balance between sweetness and saltiness has made this an extremely popular confection. Other kinds of Japanese confections, including Monaka (bean-jam wafer) and Yokan (sweet bean jelly), are also available in the shop.

"This teahouse was recreated at the eastern entrance modeled on the ""Fukuroi Dejaya no Zu"" drawn by Hiroshige of the first generation. Since it is the 27th counting from either the east or west, it holds ""right-in-the-middle movements"" and is a symbol of Fukuroijuku. The manor filled with warmth is adored by many people as a resting place for citizens or for travelers. In the tea house, local people treat you with the hospitality of tea and a sweet, so many people visit to have a rest while strolling through Fukuroi or walking along the Tokaido Highway."

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
