A restaurant serving local seafood and Izu Kogen Beer located in Ito City, Shizuoka Prefecture adjoining a brewery. The “ryoshi meshi” fisherman’s rice, made with hearty portions of fresh seafood, is particularly popular, as are the lunchtime rice bowl set meals piled high with thick chunks of seafood and salted salmon roe. The restaurant also serves a wide variety of a la carte dishes, such as batter fried seafood, turban cooked in its own shell, and stewed local splendid alfonsino. The restaurant offers six thirst-quenching and highly individual Izu Kogen Beer varieties straight from the brewery. From the first floor tables, diners can observe a section of the brewery.

The nearest station is Izu-Kogen Station and the Japanese style restaurant sits in an area surrounded by greenery and trees. The restaurant cooks using freshly caught fish and the highest quality tuna boasting a freshness and quality only found in a restaurant run by the wholesalers of Izuinatori Port. Their most popular dish with only eight dishes available every day, is the flame grilled tuna head on rice using only the best parts of the tuna head. Other popular dishes include their toro aburi zanmai rice bowl where you can enjoy pink fatty tuna, tuna head and Inatori red bream all in one dish, and their Japanese red snapper set meal.

Excellent restaurant in town at an affordable price. We visited during a weekday and enjoyed the food and service.

This is a seafood superstore which was established in 1946 in Ito city, Shizuoka prefecture. The shop deals in freshly caught fish and shellfish and sun-dried fish. The second floor is a restaurant where you can taste barbequed local fish. A specialty is “Nego Rice”, which is a reproduction of a dish eaten on ships by fisherman’s predecessors. It is recommended to eat roughly half of the dish as it is, and then enjoy this splendid dish with piping hot dashi (dashi is a simple soup stock used in Japanese cooking) poured over it.

Excellent seafood where you grill your main dish at the table and an array of sashimi, pickles and paired ingredients joins the main dish, all with the charm of helpful ladies, who dont speak much...

This is a restaurant where you can taste fisherman’s meals and Izu Kogen beer produced with the clear and clean waters from the Mt. Amagi group. In front of the terrace seats, there is a yacht harbor with the smell of salt air—you can enjoy your meal while watching the sea. It’s also OK to have your pets on the terrace. In addition to the “Kaisen-don” (seafood bowl) served at this restaurant which includes plenty of fish bought fresh that morning, there are also plenty of Italian dishes such as “Japanese blue crab pasta” which is made using ingredients from Izu and stone grilled pizza.

    海鮮ものはもちろん、洋食メニューもあって、子供連れにはありがたいレストランです。テラス席もあって、なかなかいい雰囲気のお店です。生ビールものめますが、ドライブスポットなので…飲んでいる人は少なかったです。

This restaurant offers amazing seafood caught that very day. Since they only decide what they will make after seeing what is at the fish market at three in the morning each day, the restaurant does not have a menu. The restaurant sources its fish from Ajiro Harbor, the best natural port on the eastern side of the Izu peninsula. Ajiro is the place where people in the Atami area who are truly particular about fish go, including the restaurant's owner. His uncompromising focus on quality and his knowledge of Ajiro's fish has earned the restaurant has a lot of repeat customers. Guests can fully enjoy Ajiro fish both for lunch and for dinner.

Located close by Shinsui Park in Shizuoka Prefecture’s Atami City, this coffee shop was founded in 1959. The shop interior has a striking retro style as if one had gone back in time to the Showa period (from the mid-1920s to late 1980s), with various detailed and elaborate decorations that catch the eye. Inside the center of the shop is a pond in which carp are swimming around. Enjoy coffee and tea along with a menu of food from the good old days that includes warm egg sandwiches, Napolitan spaghetti, and home-made pudding.

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
