    A local cuisine shop that was established as a miso (bean paste) manufacturing and sales company in 1834. It is famous for Aizu Miso Dengaku which are skewered konjac and sticky rice balls, vegetables etc. flavored with a red miso sauce and grilled on a charcoal fire by a hearth. It has a rustic, relaxing atmosphere and is a popular place for tourists. There is a section in the shop selling Mitsuta-ya products including miso. They have a variety of souvenirs such as hand-pressed sesame oil and Takada Plums, a specialty of Aizu. The nearest station is Nanukamachi Station.

Bandai, it is known for being able to taste the full milk fat flavor. Many fans come from far away to enjoy the soft-serve ice cream with its richness and melt-in-your-mouth taste. The shop continues to produce a rich variety of ice creams, including Japanese-flavored green tea, sesame lavishly kneaded with polyphenol-rich black sesame seeds, and blueberry with a refreshing, popular flavor.

The restaurant is famous for the food served in the oval shaped bamboo lunch boxes (mage-wappa) traditionally used by the people of the mountain village of Hinoematamura in Aizu, called “wappa meshi”. The simple and delicate wooden boxes are full of local ingredients such as salmon, salmon roe, crabs, mountain vegetables, mushrooms, etc. The “kaiseki” cuisine that makes use of Aizu seasonal produce is also popular. The relocated old houses and restored historical buildings that have continued since the Kamakura period are also interesting. There are rooms ranging from private rooms for small groups to a large hall of 36.4 square meters.

    A restaurant which has stood in the commercial district not far from Aizuwakamatsu Castle since 1971. The restaurant’s vaunted soba noodles are a select gem made with Aizu gen-soba buckwheat ground in the restaurant’s own factory. The restaurant’s yumemi soba noodles, served simply in just a bowl of the miraculous waters of Mt. Iide, are so delicious, diners are encouraged to start with an order of them. Kiriya Gongentei is also notable for its barrier free efforts, and in spite of its old fashioned Japanese home exterior, any differences in levels between rooms have been removed and there is an elevator which can accommodate wheelchairs providing access to the second floor.

    今回は娘が来ていたので夕食を兼ねてお邪魔しました。 夏野菜をメインにした料理、会津の地酒をいただきました。 今回もカウンターを利用しましたが、相変わらず手際よくお酒・料理とも出てきます。 お腹にガッツリなメニューは見当たりませんが、お酒とともに楽しむには最適です。 なるべく予約いただいた方が良いかと思います。
