The ropeway at Mt. Hakodate is about a ten-minute walk from the Jujigai tram stop and about ten minutes by car from Hakodate Station and right next to the ruins of the Nambujinya encampment. The gondolas are large with seating for 125 people, and have two stations, one at the base of the mountain and also at the peak observatory station. The top speed is seven meters per second and the top of the 334-meter-high mountain is reached in about three minutes. The beautiful seasonal scenery from the observatory deck at the summit and night view of Hakodate is highly regarded as the world's best and is a representative of tourism in the city. It is often crowded for an hour or two after sunset with people visiting to see the night view.

"This ropeway joining the Sounkyo Hot Spring with Mt. Kurodake sits as the front entrance to Daisetsuzan National Park. The large-scale gondola fits 101 people, and takes you up to the fifth station of Mt. Kurodake. If you continue on by taking the lift, you can get up to the seventh station at an elevation of 1520 meters. It is used by both casual tourists, and mountain climbers headed for the peak. The Shiretoko Sightseeing Boat operates daily from the end of April to the end of October. The primitive landscape seen from the ship is an exceptional view. Due to its large size the ship is stable and does not rock so much. You can enjoy the scenery leisurely from either a non-reserved seat on the first floor or a reserved seat on the second floor, but the observation deck is recommended if you want to take great photos. From the windows of the Underwater Observation Boat New Shakotan-go you can see the beautifully transparent waters known as the Shakotan Blue. It takes about 40 minutes to go around the scenic spots and witness the spectacular scenery of the sea around Shakotan. Boat departures take place every day from late April through to late October (canceled if heavy rain, inquire beforehand) and depart at regular intervals of about one hour. From Sapporo to Shakotan Bikuni takes about 2.5 hours by highway bus. From Yoichi Station takes about 48 minutes by regular bus.

The ropeway connects Mt. Tengu, the symbol of Otaru, from the foot of the mountain to the summit in about four minutes. The cruiser is in operation from the end of April to the beginning of October. On board the cruiser there are sofa seats and men and women toilets. It is approximately a five minute walk from “Shari Bus Utoro Onsen” bus stop on the bus from JR Shiretoko Shari Station.

In the certified Dairy Education Farm you can have a go at milking the cows, driving a tractor around the prairie, and making butter and ice cream. The farm is close to Lake Mashu and Lake Kussharo. As well as the pleasure cruiser, you can also choose to ride in a motor boat, or a Japanese houseboat.
