  • Ogizawa Station

    A station on the Kanden Tunnel Trolleybus line run by Kansai Electric Power Company, it serves as the entrance to the Nagano Prefecture-side of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. Inside the three-story station building, there is a ticket office on the first floor, a restaurant on the second, and the platform and observation deck on the third. In 2019, it will cease being a station with the pending elimination of the trolleybus.

    This vast wasabi farm in Azumino spans a space equal to 11 Tokyo Domes. Entry is free and the farm is open every day year-round. In addition to wasabi fields and a processing plant, visitors can enjoy the tranquil waterside scenery, including a water mill used in a Kurosawa’s film. The farm’s shop sells unique products found nowhere else such as wasabi soft serve ice cream and wasabi-don rice bowls. If traveling by train, a 10-minute taxi ride from Hotaka Station on the JR Oito Line.

    Located in Yamanouchi Town, Shimotakai County, Nagano Prefecture, the world's largest aerial tram with a capacity of 166 passengers will bring you to this terrace. The scenery from an altitude of 1,770 meters is amazing, and when the weather is right, a sea of clouds spreads below, like a scene from a fairy tale. The fresh green of spring and splendid autumn leaves are visible according to the season with the panoramic view.

    This is an area on a slope altitude of 800–1,000 meters overlooking the Southern Alps (Akaishi Mountains). The beautiful sight of dotted houses and tea fields means it has been designated as one of Japan’s 100 villages, and because it looks like Austria’s Tirol area it is also occasionally called Japan’s Tirol. The Sky Village Viewpoint is maintained by volunteers and is recommended as it offers a wide view over the village’s scenery.
  • Fujimidai Kogen Ropeway Heavens Sonohara

    The ropeway connects Fujimidai Kogen at an elevation of 800 meters to a point 1,400 meters high. From there change to the lift to reach the observation deck at an elevation of 1,600 meters. You can see the view as it changes from season to season from the gondola and lift as it passes through the magnificent natural scenery. Take joy in the different seasons with skunk cabbage in spring, carpets of flowers in summer, and the changing colors of the leaves in autumn. In autumn too it’s possible to witness a sea of cloud from the observation deck. And also this place was selected by the Ministry of the Environment as the best place to see the brightest stars. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful starry sky on the night tour.
  • Central Alps Komagatake Ropeway

    A ropeway which extends from below Mt. Hoken to the top of Mt. Kisokoma, also known as Mt. Komagatake, in Komagane City, Nagano Prefecture. Situated 2,612 meters above sea level, the mountaintop station is the highest such station in Japan. The station is also adjoined by the Hotel Senjojiki, frequently used by mountain climbers. There are walking paths in the area and visitors can take in picturesque sights such as the Senjojiki Cirque glacial valley as well as view rare alpine plants up close.
  • Nagato Farm

    A farm located in Nagawa Town, Chiisagata County, Nagano Prefecture. Nagato Farm raises some 200 heads of milk cows on spacious grounds equal in size to 45 Tokyo Domes. Visitors can meet and play with cows, goats, and always-popular alpacas, or just spend a relaxing time on the farm’s invigorating pastureland offering majestic views. The farm’s restaurant serves firewood oven-baked Neapolitan pizza and dishes made with Nagato’s own special dairy products. The farm’s rich soft ice cream makes a popular snack. Visitors can also try their hand at horseback riding or making various dairy products.
  • Kita Yatsugatake Ropeway

    This large ropeway, able to carry 100 people, is located at the northern tip of the Yatsugatake mountain range and connects Mt. Kita Yokodake and Mt. Shimagare. It takes about seven minutes to reach Yokodake-Tsuboniwa summit station with an altitude of 2237 meters from the station at the base of the mountain with an altitude of 1771 meters. The magnificent view of the mountains seen from the gondola window is spectacular, and is especially popular among mountaineers.

    Takizawa Ranch lets visitors experience milking cows, horseback riding, planting vegetables, harvesting, and more. There’s a camp site and lodgings on the second floor above a horse barn for a fun experience. Every year is the “Takizawa Ranch Festival,” which includes concerts, bingo, a free market, and more. It’s about 35 minutes from the Sutama Interchange on the Chuo Expressway or 30 minutes from the Kobuchisawa Interchange.
  • Ontake Ropeway

    This ropeway travels 2,330 meters between Kanose and Iimori Kogen Stations with a difference in height above sea level of 580 meters, taking 15 minutes each way. Located at around 2,000 meters above sea level in a mountainous area, the service may be suspended depending on circumstances due to changing weather conditions. In the Kozan Botanical Gardens at the summit, you will find lovely flowers including Potentilla fruticose var. mandshurica, Phyllodoce nipponica, clubmoss mountain heather and Rhododendrum dauricum. There is also an observatory restaurant from which you can look at the superb view while enjoying pasta or sweets created by the chef.

    A park located in Tokiwa, Omachi City. Here you can enjoy the great outdoors. The park is divided into several zones, such as a central zone, conservation zone, forest recreation zone, mountain stream zone, and nature activity zone.   • Yume Farm

    This farm is located in Rikugo, Ikeda-machi, Kitaazumi County. It is famous for the 70,000 lavender plants on its extensive grounds. Even outside of the lavender season, you can enjoy various flowers all year long such as mountain cherry, rape blossoms and chamomile. In addition to strolling along the walking path and lawn plaza on the farm and events on the outdoor stage, you can also purchase products with lavender and herbs at the shop.
  • Anzu no Sato Agri Park

    This tourist farm is located in Chikuma City, Nagano Prefecture. You can enjoy all-you-can-eat strawberry picking from December to June and mikan orange picking from October without a time limit. In the food park, you can eat ramen, udon noodles and sweets, as well as freshly-baked bread from the popular Ichigo Bakery. In addition, with an available children's room, the park attracts many families mainly on weekends.

    An oyaki dumpling shop and restaurant located in Takafu, Ogawa Village, Kamiminochi County. The establishment serves oyaki, handmade soba noodles, and seasonal dishes. The establishment also has a Jomon period-style pit dugout dwelling where you can make an oyaki and cook it on the irori sunken hearth, then eat them.
  • Lake Suwa Pleasure Cruise

    To board the Lake Suwa Sightseeing Boat, visitors should walk eight minutes from Kami-Suwa Station or drive 15 minutes from the Suwa Interchange. Two boats sail the route: Suwan, which evokes the image of a swan, and Ryugumaru, which looks like a small turtle riding a larger turtle. Children are especially fond of Ryugumaru, and a further attraction is its upper observation deck. In addition to making several trips per day at designated times, the boats also available for groups of ten or more to reserve excursions outside the scheduled times. It takes about 30 minutes to make a complete trip around Lake Suwa. If the weather is good, passengers are able to see Mt. Fuji.

    A ropeway located in Ryuoo Ski Park. The ropeway's gondolas are some of the biggest in the world and can carry 166 people at a time. The ropeway takes around eight minutes to travel the two-kilometers to the top of 1,770-meter-high Mt. Ryuo. The draw of the ropeway is the panoramic view riders can enjoy which encompasses the Zenkoji Plain and Northern Japan Alps. As the ropeway gondola climbs higher, a sea of clouds unfurls below, and riders will feel like they are riding on top of a cloud themselves. At the top of the mountain, visitors can take in the sight of alpine plants like Asian skunk cabbage and Ezo autumn gentian, and the calls of wild birds. Pets are allowed on the ropeway if they are placed in a cage, making it possible for visitors to go on a walk and enjoy the area's open and area natural beauty together with their favorite four legged friend.

    This tourism farm is located 30 to 60 minutes from various interchanges on the Chuo Expressway, Nagano Expressway, and Joshin-Etsu Expressway in Chiisagata County, Nagano Prefecture. The farm offers activities such as cow milking, catching fish with your bare hands, horseback riding and other animal activities, and sausage and butter making. Visitors can also try driving a tractor or riding a four wheeler. The farm also offers plans and schedules combining a variety of activities. During lunchtime, visitors can enjoy barbecue made with Shinshu beef and other farm fresh cuisine.

    A strawberry farm situated 1,000 meters above sea level a 20-minute drive from the Usui-Karuizawa Interchange. The farm raises choice strawberries in greenhouses surrounded by the naturally lush highlands of Karuizawa. In winter, the farm grows some 30 thousand strawberry plants, and in winter and spring visitors can enjoy picking five varieties of strawberries, including Benihoppe and Yayoihime. The farm's clean and tidy greenhouses are kept around 25° C and its strawberries are grown on raised platforms for easy reach, and visitors can enjoy a relaxing time picking strawberries while taking in the vast beauty of Mt. Asama. The farm offers 30-minute and 40-minute all-you-can-eat picking courses and a course which allows you to purchase the strawberries you picked by weight to take home.
  • Miharashi Farm, Ina Miharashi Strawberry farm

    About a five-minute drive from Ina Interchange on the Chuo Expressway. A tasty experience-based agricultural park where you can enjoy and learn with your five senses. Occupying about half the site, the Ina Miharashi Strawberry Garden has 19 green houses, and more than 70,000 people visit just to pick strawberries. It is the largest hydroponic strawberry growing facility in the prefecture, where visitors can pick big, sweet strawberry varieties such as Akihime, Nyoho, and Benihoppe standing up without crouching. They also use local wood to make handcrafted items and offer experiences like weaving patterns on fabric using a loom like in the old days and making fruit smoothies and jam. They also have accommodation and a hot spring facility with a great view, making it a nice place to unwind.

    A high altitude, large temperature differences due to its location in a basin, and lots of sunny days. These factors combine to make Kiyogahara the perfect place for vineyards growing sweet but moderately acidic grapes, attracting the attention of the world's wine connoisseurs. They grow varieties including Delaware, Kyoho, and Sunny Rouge, as well as their superb Niagara grapes with thin skins and a high sugar content. They don't use any herbicides so they can produce safe, healthy, and delicious grapes. This farm takes the soil and makes it into succulent grapes.
