    Sapporo Beer Museum, located to the east of Sapporo Station, is the only museum in Japan where you can learn about the history of Japanese beer. Admission to the museum is free, but the paid tour (about 50 minutes) is recommended if you have the time. You can learn about the history of Sapporo Beer with the powerful 6K wide-screen theater and easy-to-understand guide. Also you can only sample the “Fukkokuban Sapporo-sei Bakushu” (Reproduced Sapporo Beer) that recreates the flavor at the time of Sapporo Beer's establishment as well as the iconic Black Label Sapporo Beer on the paid tour.     The first Nikka Whisky distillery built in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru who after visiting Scotland became the first Japanese person to master the whisky manufacturing process. Here you can come and see for yourself the whole distillery process. Inside the distillery you can find many things of interest such as displays on the history of whisky and its manufacturing process, a whisky museum where you can sample some whisky for yourself, and you can also see the former residence of Masataka Taketsuru which was originally in Yamada Town in the suburbs of Yoichi Town but dismantled and rebuilt here in the distillery. There are nine buildings on the distillery premises which have been designated as tangible cultural assets of Japan such as the distillation building and the first whisky storehouse.

    Kamaei is a long-standing kamaboko seasoned fish paste company founded in 1905. In addition to conventional kamaboko served on a wooden plank, Kamaei offers a wide variety of kamaboko products, including Shiokaze kamaboko formed by steaming it in a plastic film to shape it; kamaboko steamed with crab and other seafood on top; and Noshi Kamaboko, a terrine-like dish made by combining layers of kamaboko. The Kamaei plant offers factory tours as well as selling kamaboko direct to customers. There's also a cafe space where you can enjoy fresh-cooked kamaboko and unusual kamaboko dishes served no place else.

    Located only a 5-minute walk from the JR Minami Otaru Station, this is only sake brewery in Otaru. It proudly makes the Japanese sake brand, Takaragawa, Otaru Bijin liqueur, and Maho-no-Itteki hon-mirin, a sweet rice wine for cooking. Its stone masonry warehouse, built around 1905 is designated as one of Otaru's historic building. At the store, one can enjoy free sake-tastings of sake shipped direct from the brewery, Shiboritate fresh bottled sake without pasteurization, and approximately 10 other varieties of seasonal sakes.     A workshop which makes and sells Bolta figures located a six minute walk from JR Wanishi Station. Bolta figures are made from nuts and bolts in the steal town of Muroran City. Here you can see all manner of Bolta figures and watch workers making the figures in the workshop area. Over 100 varieties of Bolta figures are available for sale in the shop area, including figures modeled after Warring States period samurai, steam engines, and biplanes. There's also a bar where you can try the wines sold in the shop area. The establishment also serves dishes which go well with wine made with local ingredients, making it a great place to enjoy Hokkaido wines to your heart's content.

You can enjoy authentic German beer brewed by a German brau engineer with cuisine using local ingredients. Brewery tours are also available any time. Every Thursday and Saturday is “nomihodai” (all you can drink) for 2,200 yen (includes tax) for three hours during business hours.

    Furano Winery is a red brick winery located on a hill. On the winery tour, you can see the wine bottled so far and its state of maturation, as well as production processes such as bottling. On the second floor of the winery, you can taste wine and grape juice while enjoying the mountains of the Tokachi range. The shop handles original goods and products made using wine juice not to mention Furano Wine. As Furano is famous for lavender, you can also enjoy early blooming lavender from late June to mid-July in the winery square.

    The oldest potter in Asahikawa. They continue to make pieces that show the nature of Hokkaido and the changing of the seasons. They use the Crystal Glaze technique, which was passed on to the third generation of Taisetsugama and was inspired by the idea of snow and ice. Various conditions including the composition of the glaze and the temperature of the kiln cause parts of the glaze to appear as crystal. The inconsistency of the amount of crystallization is part of the attraction. In their workshop, surrounded by vibrant colors including the fresh greens of spring or the changing autumn colors, they offer workshops in making teacups and coffee cups.

    A winery located a 15-minute drive from New Chitose Airport. The winery has been creating flavorful, fruity wines since it was founded in 1988. The winery's principal products are its haskap wine, made with the haskap berries which are one of Chitose's specialty products; and its Kita Wine, a pinot noir made with Kerner grapes notable for its mellow flavor and fruity aroma. The winery's cool, full-bodied, wines, redolent with fruit flavor, make perfect souvenirs and gifts. Located close to the airport, the winery is also a great place to spend some time while waiting to get on your flight.

    Snow Brand Meg Milk factory is located ten minutes from Nakashibetsu Airport by car. Visitors can enjoy videos and a factory inspection of cheese production at no charge. Factory inspections require reservations by telephone at least ten days prior to the date you plan to visit. The factory tour takes between 60 to 90 minutes. Gouda cheese, produced only at the Nakashibetsu plant, is available for purchase, and other unique cheeses can be tasted. Please note that the factory tour is for children over the age of three.
