    Shiretoko Nature Center displays original images of the Oku Shiretoko which cannot be easily entered, as well as pictures of the scenery taken from the sky and giving a bird’s eye view. It is located approximately one hour 45 minutes by car from Memanbetsu Airport.

    The Notsuke Peninsula Nature Center presents information about the natural environment and history of the Notsuke Peninsula, Japan’s largest sand-spit. There are photographs of the wild bird species that are seen on the Peninsula, including the White-tailed Sea Eagle and Japanese Red-crowned Crane, and the plant species that grow there, as well as an area outlining the history and prehistory of the region. On the First Floor, visitors can try milk and soft-serve ice cream produced locally in the Bekkai district. The Nature Center is around 50 minutes’ drive from Nakashibetsu Airport. Between May and the end of October, the Nature Center can also be reached easily by tourist boat from Odaito Pond.

    Akankohan Eco-Museum Center introduces you to the lush nature in the Akan National Park Akan area. The Akan Marimo (round green algae) has been designated as a Special Natural Monument.     The Asahidake Visitor Center is near Asahidake Station on the Asahidake Ropeway and is the central location for the sightseeing in Mt. Asahi. Here you can see displays, photos and a DVD about the origin of Mt. Asahi and the nature surrounding Mt. Daisetsu. There is a place to sit down and relax where people who have been enjoying mountain climbing, walking and cross country skiing can unwind. At the information counter, you can hire snowshoes and cross country skiing equipment. They also have the latest local information and information on guides.

    Toyako Visitor Center and Volcano Science Museum is an exhibition facility that introduces the natural environment around Lake Toya and the natural history of Mt. Usu. You can learn about the volcanic activity through commentary panels with a focus on huge aerial photographs and actual specimens, as well as the ecology of the animals and plants and the mechanism of the lake. You can also experience walking around Nakajima Island which formed in the middle of Lake Toya about 50,000 years ago, and there are regular workshops and events such as making watches with tree nuts. You can have fun while connecting with nature.

    Located at the Koshimizu Natural Flower Garden in Abashiri Quasi-National Park, the “Hana” Information Center has a wide-screen movie theater showing films about the natural wonders of Koshimizu and how they change with the seasons, displays of specimens of the wild flowers that are found in the Koshimizu Primeval Garden, a shop, etc. Visitors are sure to enjoy themselves here whatever the weather. The Center is around 20 minutes’ journey by bus from Abashiri Station on the JR Senmo Line; get off at the “Gensei Kaen” bus stop.

    The tourism and production center adjacent to JR Yoichi Station sells special products and also offers tourist information. In the souvenir corner there is a wide variety of liquors including Nikka Whiskey famous from the NHK morning drama and Yoichi wine. Their freshly baked apple pies using locally grown apples and handmade gelato are loved not only by tourists but also by locals. On the second floor is “Jump Kingdom Yoichi Exhibition Hall” displaying approximately 200 items of ski jumping Olympic medalists including skis they used etc.

    來到余市想必就是要去看酒廠,在抵達時不會在車站停留,但回去時因為班次關係,可能要在車站停留一陣子,這時這跟車站共購的商店就是很好的逛逛去處,當然不能跟一些大城市的共購商場相比,這裡比較像一間商店,但從余市到北海道的特產都有賣,且價格不貴,很適合在這打發時間,我買了蘋果派,味道還算不錯,還有許多冰淇淋可選擇。

The Field House is open between May 1 and October 31 each year. The Field House is located approximately two hours and 40 minutes’ drive from Memanbetsu Airport on National Highway 334, and around 20 minutes’ drive from Rausu City.

    This is a facility providing information to climbers on wildlife and nature, as well as walking courses, at the entrance to Cape Tachimachi Teishajosen, near the Hakodate Seikan Renrakusen Memorial Monument. Volunteer guides are available between Thursdays and Saturdays if reserved in advance. The center explains the best courses for climbing, as well as the wildlife and plants living on Mt. Hakodate. It is located at the north exit of the west concourse on the first floor of JR Sapporo Station, and is the first facility in Japan to contain the three entities of the prefecture, municipality and JR.
