This cable car with a slope length of 684 meters and a height difference of 167 meters connects the Mt. Yaguriyama Summit Station on the side of Mt. Goken to Yakura Tozan Guchi Station. Once popular as a place of ascetic practice experience, the cable is used by many people, mainly worshipers to Yakuri Temple, the 85th temple of the Shikoku 88-temple Pilgrimage. It only takes visitors a few minutes to walk from Yaguri Summit Station to Yakuri Temple. The area of Mt. Gokenzan is also famous for its scenery with beautiful cherry blossoms in spring, and stunning red leaves in autumn.

This cable car gets you up to Yakuriji temple, temple no 85 on the Shikoku temple pilgrimage. The temple is well worth seeing. But the cable car is enormous fun in its own right. It looks like...

The Kankakei Ropeway runs across Kankakei Gorge, which is considered to be one of the three most beautiful gorges in Japan; the Ropeway extends from the foothills right up to the mountain peak. Visitors can enjoy spectacular views of the beautiful scenery in the Gorge, which changes with the seasons. The views of the Seto Inland Sea in the distance provide a marvelous contrast to the mountain vistas. The journey up the Ropeway takes approximately five minutes to complete.

"This restaurant and souvenir shop offers a workshop that lets you try making Sanuki udon noodles by hand. With good access from Ritsurin Garden which is designated as a Special Place of Scenic Beauty, Yashima Island, and the temples of the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage, you'll definitely want to stop by. Besides Sanuki udon, there are a lot of popular products such as the ""Nakano Udon School Set"" where you make the noodles by hand. They stock a lot of other special products from Shikoku too."

Udon making is interesting but they put a wonderful twist on it to make it fun and exciting. Highly recommended!

This is a reconstruction of the kind of naturally-flooded saltpans developed in the early Edo period for making salt. It adjoins the Utazu-Umihotaru museum, which presents the history and culture of salt making in Utazu. Very few such working reconstructed saltpans exist in the country, and many area elementary and junior high schools make field trips to it. With a reservation made at least 10 days in advance, families and groups can also try making salt using the facility (note that salt making activities may be cancelled due to weather).

It is a beautiful park by the Seto Inland Sea, with a spectacular bridge in the background. Good for a relaxing walk, with a playground and cafe within it.

Kagawa Areas

around-area-map

Japan’s smallest prefecture, Kagawa, may take up just a small corner of Shikoku, but it has grown increasingly popular with the recognition of Naoshima, its "art island" in the Seto Inland Sea between Shikoku and Honshu. Just a stone’s throw from the islands, mainland Kagawa’s prefectural capital, Takamatsu, holds history in its castle ruins and its pride and joy, Ritsurin Garden, is known as one of the country’s best gardens.
