A restaurant adjoining the factory which supplies Ichiran, a popular ramen chain restaurant located in Itoshima City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Here customers can eat dishes only offered here like the popular natural tonkotsu ramen, in addition to visiting a tonkotsu ramen museum and touring the factory. The facility sees many ramen loving tourists.

Being huge Ichiran fans, my hubby and I decided to visit their museum when we went to Fukuoka, there is an area showcasing Ichirans history (but it was mostly in Japanese). Then there are individual...

An old-fashioned foamy tonkotsu (pork bone broth) ramen shop which has taken great pride in the flavor of the bones used to make its delicious broth since it first opened in 2004. The shop also puts great effort into its noodles, which are thin and chew and go well with the shop’s broth, and established its own noodle factory, Keishi, in 2008. The shop closes when its supply of broth for the day runs out. A five-minute walk from the Hakata Exit at JR Hakata Station.

It’s such a wonderful experience to come to IKkousha at its original flagship shop, the small shop is so authentic and doesn’t have many tourists like Ichiran which is a good thing, because the...

Selling Japanese style sweets made with choice ingredients, some of the shop's many products include monaka wafer cakes stuffed with sweet bean jam, and elegant ""Kanomi"" cups containing traditional Japanese confections. Decorated in Japanese modern style, the establishment has a quiet atmosphere and offers cafe style selections in addition to confections, and customers can take in a quiet meal here as well. The shop is frequented not only by locals but also many tourists seeking gifts and souvenirs."

A shop directly operated by a fishery cooperative located in Buzen City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Located in the Unoshima Fishing Port, on the first floor the establishment sells fresh, seasonal fish delivered direct by the fishermen themselves. The establishment has a fish preserve and visitors can see the seafood swimming vigorously within. In the second-floor restaurant, customers can enjoy sashimi and other fresh, seasonal seafood delights. Note that all of the restaurant's dishes are limited in quantity and as such it's best to get here as early as possible.

"This restaurant specializing in straight-from-the-pot udon noodles is located right in front of Fukuoka Airport. Founded more than 40 years ago, it is popular for the flavor of its carefully-crafted udon noodles and broth. Their menu includes udon noodles and rice dishes as well as plenty of tasty udon toppings. We recommend their ""goboten udon"" topped with crunchy burdock root tempura, the soul of Fukuoka, and their ""niku goboten udon topped with burdock root tempura and beef, which is their most popular item. We also recommend pairing them with their mixed rice with burdock root and chicken"

This gyoza specialty restaurant is located approximately four minutes on foot from Hakata Station, and is always bustling with nearby office workers and families. The bite-size gyoza are handmade, by carefully stretching the dough and wrapping it around the filling made with 14 types of ingredients. The crisp texture and juicy filling are the key to its popularity. The restaurant apparently bakes five thousand of these dumplings in a single day on weekends. They use only a little garlic, so the ladies need not worry, too. There are counter seats and high seats available. The restaurant is closed on Sundays.

The Ippudo ramen chain was founded in 1985. Ippudo puts great effort into just about every aspect of its ramen—in addition to the flavor, even the appearance and sound of the shop’s ramen is carefully designed; only the safest and choicest of ingredients are selected for use; and Ippudo also strives to prepare an optimum cooking environment for its chefs. The Ganso Shiromaru Motoaji (Shiromaru Classic) and Ganso Akamaru Motoaji (Akamaru Modern) ramens are only available at the Daimyo location. An eight-minute walk from Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station on the Nishitetsu Tenjin Omuta Line.

Daruma’s noodles are made with a unique flour blend. The shop’s rich and striking broth has been made in the same hagama pot since 1963. It uses only the choicest and safe pork and seafoods. And the shop’s proprietary soy sauce is made by special order from a soy sauce brewer. Whichever item on the shop’s menu you choose, the flavor will tell you about the master skills which went into making it. Customers also love its selection of noodles, for the ultra thick to the ultra thin. A five-minute walk from Watanabe-dori Station.

Rakutenchi has been serving fresh motsunabe (offal hot pot) the day it was made using only Fukuoka Japanese black beef for 38 years. The shop’s special original broth has stayed the same great flavor for over 30 years. Toppings such as garlic chives, cabbage, and chili peppers are all carefully selected and Kyushu-grown. Diners are encouraged to finish their meal off with some chanpon noodles added to the broth left over after enjoying the toppings. A ramen restaurant located in Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City. The restaurant is notable for its use of thin, flat noodles similar to those used in Inaniwa udon. The restaurant's tonkotsu pork bone broth is made with a relatively large ratio of soy sauce, giving it a flavor that is milder than usual and which has been a favorite of locals for years. During lunchtime, the restaurant offers a ramen set meal which includes a half sized serving of fried rice.

After 2:30 in the afternoon, its hard to find good things to eat in Japan until dinner time. This place was serving, and we wanted Fukuoka-style ramen, so in we went. The gyoza are small, nice and...

A long-standing, reservation only nabe hotpot restaurant located in Kamikawabata-machi, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City. The restaurant is famous for its mizutaki plain boiled hotpot made with choice Akadori chicken from Saga Prefecture. The restaurant's full menu also includes dishes like shabushabu and sukiyaki made with brand Kuroge-Wagyu (Japanese black beef). The restaurant has private and tatami mat dining spaces where customers can enjoy a quiet, relaxing meal.

This restaurant seems to be famous in Fukuoka as there were many pictures of mostly japanese celebrities near the entrance. The hotpot was good and the staff friendly. It was pretty pricey though.
