This specialty ohban-yaki (Japanese pancake with sweet red bean paste) shop is located on Kurashiki Ebisu Shopping Street in Achi, Kurashiki City. Ebisu Manju, their signature ohban-yaki product, is simply made using only sweet bean paste inside. The store is not open in the summer, and sells products from the autumn to the spring.

昔の方がおいしかった久しぶりに食べたら生地が硬くてパサパサしてたもっともちもちして触ったら中のあんこが感じられるぐらいもうちょっと薄かったら食べやすいのかも中のあんこも甘すぎた砂糖を少なくして塩を利かした方がイイと思った

This rest house is located in the Tanoura 1 Chome area of Shimotsui, Kurashiki City. There is a restaurant that offers menu items utilizing the flavors of Setouchi, banquet hall providing menus for groups and traditional seasonal Japanese cuisine, cafe and souvenir shop. In addition, you can see the islands in the Seto Inland Sea and the Seto-ohashi Bridge from the observation deck.

平日はもちろん土休日も営業時間が短く、現実的にはランチでしか利用できません。お土産コーナーは広いですが、品揃えは今一つ。眺めは抜群なのにもったいないです。

夜に近くを通りかかる用事があり、シーズン外の6月でしたが、カキコミを食べに日生に来ました。しかし、コロナ禍で通常通りの営業しておらず、諦めかけていた時にこのお店を見つけました。営業終了ギリギリにもかかわらず、丁寧にもてなしてもらいました。冷凍カキなので、冬本場に比べると味は…ということでしたが、美味しかったです。次は冬のシーズン中に来たいと思います。

蒜山焼きそばの有名店の一角。米子自動車道の蒜山インターからも車で5分くらいの場所にあります。本業は焼肉屋さんのようなので、焼きそば以外のメニューもありますが、私は以前来た時と同じ『ホルモン焼きそば』を注文。濃いタレの効いた味わいでかつボリュームが凄いので満腹になりました。

The atmosphere is cozy and cute, and it has a hammock outside which I enjoy lazing about in! The food is p. good too - definitely recommend for a quick break if youre on the Hiruzen cycling trail.

岡山後楽園の南門に近い場所にある茶店です。名物きびだんごと抹茶のセット（５００円）を頂きながら休憩しました。歩き疲れた体には甘いものと抹茶の組み合わせは元気のもとになる気がしました。帰る時に「どうも-」とか声をかけたのですが、返事もなかったのがなんだか悪い印象になってしまってちょっぴりがっかりしました。

This Japanese confectionery has over 160 years of history, stretching back to 1856. They worked to improve millet kibigashi, which had a very short shelf life, and used rice-flour gyuhi to create soft kibidango dumplings. These were loved by the Lord of Bizen at the time, and the Meiji Emperor. The package has an adorable picture of folk-tale hero Momotaro done by famous picture book artist Taro Gomi, making it popular with locals as well. In addition to old fashioned kibidango, they also have various flavors like matcha or peach.

This gelato shop is run by a dairy farm. The shop is marked by its freshness of flavor, created by using milk and eggs straight from the farm. This izakaya pub is in Okayama IchibanGai, a commercial complex attached to Okayama Station. This cozy shop only has counter seating. They offer fresh seafood caught from the Seto Inland Sea and brought direct from Okayama port, served up flame grilled, as sashimi, or as tempura. In addition to the standard beer, their drinks include local chuhai cocktails and local sake. For lunch, they have set meals with miso soup and rice in addition to their usual a la carte menu.

This venerable Japanese confectionery has over 180 years of history. Their famous Ote Manju buns were particularly loved by Ikeda, Lord of Bizen Domain, and stories say he made sure they were served at every tea ceremony he attended. These buns are made with carefully mixed sweet bean paste wrapped in amazake sweet sake flavored dough for a highly aromatic manju bun. They also serve crisp Monami, monaka wafers filled with moist coarse anko, and Tsubuzoroi bean sweets, made with high grade sugared adzuki beans.

This cafe is inside Okayama Korakuen garden. The shop has a Japanese/Modern design with a wide-open feel, and half of the seating is on the terrace. You can view Okayama Castle, on the opposite side of the Asahi river, from inside the shop. The menu include fried shrimp curry, pasta, rice omelet, and more. They also have black sesame soba and steak meal sets. Their dessert menu is filled with unique treats, like three flavors of fried kibidango dumplings (kinako soy flour, matcha, and soy sauce), as well as squid parfait.

Matsuda Farm spreads out for 25 hectares on the Kibi highland at 300 meters above sea level. This ice cream shop is in one small corner of the ranch. They focus on house-made gelato, and serve 10-12 flavors. Their most popular is Milk Gelato, bringing out the natural flavor of the farm fresh milk from their own cows. Their Umi no Gelato, made with imported Sicilian sea salt, and Homare, made with local sake Mitsu Homare, are also really popular. They also offer seasonal flavors like Sakura or watermelon. There is a wood deck next to the shop, so you can enjoy the lovely peaceful farm view for a moment.

岡山市の山中にある牧場直営のジェラート店だ。ミルクや抹茶などベーシックなフレーバーに加え、季節限定の味がある。牧場でしぼりたてのミルクをジェラートにしているという。甘さが控えめで、おいしいジェラートだ。牧場も一部開放されており、少しだが散策も楽しめる。問題はアクセス道。道が狭いルートをたどったので少しストレスだ。広い道があるので行くときはホームページで確認するといい。

Okayama Areas

Overshadowed by Hiroshima to the west and the Kansai region to the east, Okayama is an easy spot to miss but a nature-rich gem where the Seto Inland Sea laps at its toes and peach and grape farms complete its interior. One of Japan’s Three Great Gardens, Koraku-en in Okayama city is well worth a visit before progressing to Kurashiki, where preserved wooden Edo buildings line the picturesque canal.
