There is a memorial room in the main building introducing the history of the drug store Hayashi Genjiro Shouten. The nearest station is Kurashiki Station.

    This long-established Japanese confectionery shop is located in the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter of Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture and opened in 1877. It is the shop that created the famous Kurashiki sweet “Murasuzume,” which is made by taking a thin crepe and coating the browned side with coarse sweet red bean paste and wrapped in the shape of half moon. You can purchase Murasuzume made by expert bakers, and can even try your own hand at baking some. It takes about five minutes, and you can choose between regular and jumbo sizes. Visitors will take turns making them after applying.

    This hall is attached to Inbe Station in Inbe, Bizen City. Besides providing tourism information and selling goods, it exhibits and sells works by members of Bizen yaki tou yu kai (Bizen Ceramics Association), and holds workshops to experience making Bizen-yaki ware on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays (for a fee, reservation required). Every October, the “Bizen Pottery Festival” is held throughout the entire area.

    伊部駅に併設している建物で、備前のいろいろな窯元の作品があり、購入もできるようなので、最初に一通り見てから、お気に入りの窯元の所に行くのもよいかも。

    This dyeing workshop and gallery is about a 10-minute walk from JR Chugoku-Katsuyama Station. The workshop is at the back of the shop, and the noren curtains used in the Katsuyama Townscape Preservation District are made here. The gallery is housed in a remodeled sake brewery building that's about 250 years old, and it displays and sells plant-dyed coasters, tenugui towels, handkerchiefs, and more, as well as taking orders for custom noren curtains and tapestries.

    This indoor private market is about a five-minute walk from Okayama Station on Nishigawa-Ryokudokoen-suji Street. The whole first floor of the building is taken up by the market, and there are fresh produce and seafood shops, as well as cafes and restaurants. They also have regular events, which draw crowds of customers. It began in 1946 as Okayama Market, and was made to offer an alternative to the post-war black market where people could buy in safety. It currently not only serves as a food wholesale point, but also distributes the safe, secure taste of Okayama to private customers.

    This is a specialty goods shop and restaurant located on Prefectural Route 270 in Shuku, Soja City. The shop sells local special products and fresh vegetables picked in the morning. There is also a gallery that displays and sells crafts. The restaurant serves set meals with a choice of Kibiji okowa glutinous rice with special black soybean or red bean rice, udon noodles, soba and curry. In addition, there is also a cafe menu offering dishes such as Kofunzenzai red bean soup (reservation required) using special tofu.

    備中国分寺に行くために、駐車場に車を入れると、すぐ横にこの建物があります。中はレストランが中心ですが、おみやげ物も入手できます。

    A select food shop located in a residential area a little ways off from the Bikan Historical Quarter in Hommachi, Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture. The shop operates out of a remodeled warehouse built in the Taisho period which once belonged to the Morita Shuzo sake brewery. The shop is crowded with carefully selected delicious things from around the country; Heisuiken always stocks over 1,000 different items. Focusing on traditional Japanese foods, the shop carries a wide array of delicacies, from cheeses and jams to seasonings and even foods from other countries.

    A 10-minute walk south from JR Kurashiki Station. Located near the entrance to Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter this shop promotes the food culture of the Seto Inland Sea. They primarily sell special broths and seasonings all carefully handmade with locally sourced ingredients. A popular item is their well-known Oyster Senbei crackers. These thin fried crackers are made with whole Seto Inland Sea specialty oysters resulting in a snack with a light mouthfeel that fills your mouth with the rich taste of oyster. Also recommended are foods from their oyster series made with an abundance of oyster powder including their Seto Oyster Salt and Oyster Broth. Almost all of their products are available to be sampled. They also serve Cremia soft serve ice cream.

    食品系のお土産が多く、試食もたくさんあるので味を見て買うことができてよかったです。桃のバター(ミルクジャム)とレモン塩が美味しかったので購入しました。

    This venerable Japanese confectionery has over 180 years of history. Their famous Ote Manju buns were particularly loved by Ikeda, Lord of Bizen Domain, and stories say he made sure they were served at every tea ceremony he attended. These buns are made with carefully mixed sweet bean paste wrapped in amazake sweet sake flavored dough for a highly aromatic manju bun. They also serve crisp Monami, monaka wafers filled with moist coarse anko, and Tsubuzoroi bean sweets, made with high grade sugared adzuki beans.

    岡山の方におすすめのお土産を訊いたところ、大手饅頭とのことで、こちらで買い求めました。家に戻り、皆で食べましたが皮が薄く甘すぎないあんこが美味しく好評でした。

    A 10-minute walk from JR Kagato Station. This is the directly operated sales shop of long-standing soy sauce brewery Takatori-Shoyu, who were founded in 1905. They sell carefully made well-known seasonings including soy sauce, dressings, and dipping sauces. Recommended is their Fushiichi-kiri soy sauce. It's made using the same traditional techniques and has a sweet and rich flavor with a smooth finish. At the front of the shop they sell their popular Soy Sauce Soft-serve Ice Cream, with cup servings of hard ice-cream available for take away. Sweets such as their Soy Sauce Candies are also popular.

    備前市にある醤油の蔵元だそうです。備前焼まつりに来た際に、こちらのしょうゆソフトクリームを食べました。おいしかったです。

    赤穂線伊部駅前にある備前焼の店が立ち並ぶ通りにあります。毎年10月に開催される備前焼祭りの際に訪れました。備前焼のギャラリーに加え、喫茶コーナーもあります。

    A 15-minute walk from JR Kurashiki Station. A shop located within Ohara Museum of Art, Japan's first western modern art museum, situated on the corner of Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter. They sell art books and merchandise such as stationary decorated with motifs of the art in the museum's collection. In particular they offer a wide selection of postcards decorated with the works of artists including El Greco, Monet, Gauguin, and Picasso. Also popular is the Original Book Tin Cookies which come in a tin shaped like a book and decorated with a print of a classic novel. You can enter the shop without entering the museum.

    岡山市のちょっと外れにある洋菓子のアウトレット。大人気です。駐車場も広いです。土日は入るのに待たないといけないことも。 最近は東京でもスーパーやコンビニでドンレミーの商品を見かけます。 ただ、規格外商品を取り扱っているので格安でケーキやプリン、ロールケーキなどを買えます。家族4人分、数日もつほど買ってもせいぜい1000円台かと。普通に美味しいし、オススメです!

    This fruit shop is on the first basement floor of TENMAYA Okayama, a department store on Omote-cho shopping street. They offer a variety of Okayama-centric delights, with juices made from seasonal fruits and vegetables, as well as gelato made with real juice. The displays of their juices in cups shaped like the fruit inside is a real standout of this shop. They squeeze the fruit juice on order, so you get to enjoy the freshest possible flavor here. They have seating available to enjoy your purchase at your leisure, as well.

    天満屋デパ地下にあり、地元白桃やピオーネを生かしたジュース、ジェラートが味わえる店舗です。周辺には店舗が多く、休憩にも便利です。

    A 10-minute drive from JR Tsuyama Station. Founded in the first year of the Meiji period (1868) this long-standing Japanese confectioner continues to make sweets using their guarded family recipes. Their well-known Ekubo (Dimple) Sweet Ichima sandwiches coarse red bean paste made from domestic adzuki beans in bouche-style castella pastry and was the recipient of the National Japanese Wagashi Confectionery Competition's Governor's Award. Their Waffle treat, filled with custard cream made with a healthy amount of fresh eggs and milk, is also popular for its nostalgic flavor and sweetness. All of their treats are made with very little in the way of additives or preservatives. Attached to the confectioners is the Kuraya Teahouse.

    津山という街の駅前周辺には都会に負けないぞという頑張ってる飲食店が多くある。ここはそんなことを一切気にしない。津山は津山なんだとあきらめ?w 背伸びしてない津山の本当に美味しいものがここで食することができる。落ち着ける。おススメしたい。

    This specialty ohban-yaki (Japanese pancake with sweet red bean paste) shop is located on Kurashiki Ebisu Shopping Street in Achi, Kurashiki City. Ebisu Manju, their signature ohban-yaki product, is simply made using only sweet bean paste inside. The store is not open in the summer, and sells products from the autumn to the spring.

    這家位在倉敷惠比壽商店街,名稱為惠比壽饅頭,其實就是車輪餅的紅豆餅。一個只要七十五日圓,剛出爐的很熱非常好吃。

Overshadowed by Hiroshima to the west and the Kansai region to the east, Okayama is an easy spot to miss but a nature-rich gem where the Seto Inland Sea laps at its toes and peach and grape farms complete its interior. One of Japan's Three Great Gardens, Koraku-en in Okayama city is well worth a visit before progressing to Kurashiki, where preserved wooden Edo buildings line the picturesque canal.
