    A shopping mall and multipurpose complex situated along the Ushu Highway east of Kajo Park. The eight floor building consists of shopping between floors one and three and the Yamagata City Central Community Center from floors four through eight. The shopping area primarily consists of stores selling women's clothing and other apparel as well as all sorts of life necessities and niceties, from jewelry to glasses and bags. The Yamagata Geibun Museum is also located on floor 2 and sells and holds exhibitions of works of art by local artists. Community center facilities include a library, performance hall, and gallery.

    Standing near the Nagasaki Ohashi Bridge, Sankyo Warehouse, built in 1893, is still used as an agricultural storehouse today. A portion of the warehouse was remodeled and opened as Sakata Yume-no-Kura, a tourism facility and collection of shops selling local products. The Hana-no-Yakata museum presents the history of Sakata City and its culture through exhibits and informational panels. The facility has an open terrace and restaurants serving light meals, and visitors can enjoy Tsuya-hime soft serve ice cream and Tama-konnyaku, local specialties. There is also a corner selling seafood products, Shonai rice, and other top Yamagata souvenirs.

    The entrance to the store offers a range of local sakes, some you can taste for 100yen or so. Inside the store there are seasonal and long-selling sweets from famous sweet shops from all over Sakata...

    Located a 10 minute walk from JR Yamagata Station, this tourism and shopping facility focuses on seasonal Yamagata treats, delicacies, and products. The building was originally constructed as a warehouse and home for the Hasegawa safflower merchant family. In addition to restaurants, a souvenir shop, and direct farm shop selling local Yamagata agricultural products, the facility also hosts a tourist information center. At Beni-no-Kura, you can enjoy stone ground, handmade soba noodles; Italian cuisine made with traditional and seasonal vegetables; sweets, and more. At the souvenir shop and direct farm shop, you can purchase traditional Yamagata crafts, rare Japanese legacy vegetables, and other fresh agricultural products.

    A tofu shop located at the entranceway to the Ginzan Onsen hot spring resort area in Obanazawa City renowned for its old fashioned Taisho Roman-style townscape. The shop’s “Tofuya” sign and menu posted on what otherwise looks like the entrance to an ordinary Japanese-style home draw the eye due to their unexpectedness. The shop’s tofu is served in disposable plastic trays to make it easy to eat on the go while walking about the town. The shop’s particularly popular boiled tofu is so soft and delicate it practically melts in your mouth. The nama-age deep fried bean curd has a crisp and light texture. Diners are recommended to soak their feet in the nearby footbath while enjoying their tofu.

    Uesugi Joshien not only provides information on the tourist spots around the Uesugi castle town, but also has a restaurant serving Yonezawa beef and other cuisine and shops selling Yonezawa goods, allowing visitors to really experience the tastes, crafts, and spirit of Yonezawa. Yonezawa beef is one of Japan’s top three beef brands, and you can enjoy steak, sukiyaki, shabu shabu, and even hamburgers, minced meat cutlets, croquettes, and skewers made with the meat. It’s about 10 minutes by car from JR Yonezawa Station.

    上杉神社に訪れたのち、お土産と昼食に。団体客に対応できる綺麗なよくある観光地のお店です。 毘が入ったやや小振りな手ぬぐいを買い、昼食は芋煮御膳を。初芋煮でしたが、見た目通りの素朴な味。塩引き寿司と一緒に。 想像通り。ある意味で期待を裏切らない昼食でした。

    This is a tourist farm located about 20 minutes by car from JR Tsuruoka Station. The Shonai sand dunes, with good drainage is one of Japan’s leading melon producing areas. At JA Tsuruoka Saigo fruit and vegetables sorting facility, visitors can experience all-you-can-eat sweet and fresh Shonai sand dune melons for about a month in July with reservations. The types of melons are Andes Melon and JA Tsuruoka’s original melon called the Tsuruhime Melon and Tsuruhime Red Melon. Both the Tsuruhime and the Tsuruhime Red melons are large and have high sugar content and visitors can enjoy their elegant sweet aroma. Visitors can also experience harvesting melons and melons are sold on site at the same venue.

    小さいパン屋の割に、パンの種類が色々ありました。人気のウサギパンも残っていて、購入できました。マイバック持参で10円安くなりました。

Their restaurant serving such delicacies as sukiyaki, shabu shabu, and steak using the best Yamagata beef has gourmands lining up to get in. Their lunch menu with items like set meals and rice bowls is only available on weekdays. A party menu is available if booked in advance.

    The main shop of this specialty product shop is located in front of Tsuruoka Station. First founded as a tea house in 1666, this veteran shop boasts over 350 years of history. They sell seasonal Yamagata fruit including cherries and La France pears, simple flavored dadakko yaki manju sweets made with local dadacha soybeans, and original sweets like their White Paris roll cake which they've sold over 300,000 of in total.

    鶴岡駅から徒歩1分ほど、駅前ロータリーの向かいにあるマリカ西館の1階にある大きな物産店です。だだちゃ豆の饅頭やパイが人気のようですが、庄内地方の物産だけでなく山形県全域の特産品や銘菓が豊富に揃っているので、楽しくお土産選びができます。7月初旬だったので、山形特産のサクランボがたくさん陳列されていました。

Its hallmark product is sumirezuke, which uses a raw meat preservation method that involves marinating it in miso and sake lees. They sell meticulously selected, high-quality Yonezawa beef and Japanese black beef from their shop and run the restaurant Yonezawa Beef Gourmet Plaza Kongokaku next door.

    This is an artisan gallery located along Prefectural Route 245 in Sasanohoncho, Yonezawa City. At this gallery you can watch the skills of an artist as he creates carvings using this over 1,000 year old Sasano Ittobori single-knife technique. Some carvings are available for sale as well. The best part of this gallery is watching the artist wield a single blade, called a sarukiri, over a piece of wood without ever separating the carved pieces from the wood to fashion the final Sasano Ittobori carving. Reservations can be made to join a workshop for hand painting the finished Sasano Ittobori wood carvings.

Dewazakura has been the Gold Prize winning sake in the Annual Japan Sake Awards for 12 years running, and also awarded the highest Champion Sake title. With the overwhelming support of the local residents, this brewery's goal is to make ginjo a global household word. To this end they export this brew to over 25 countries, expanding their presence worldwide.

    This is a Japanese confectionery shop in Yamadera, Yamagata City. Their signature item, Morokoshi sweet, is filled with azuki beans and is branded with the Yamadera name. The historic Morokoshi, a pleasant smelling mildly sweet bean cake, won an award at the 19th National Confectionery Exposition, and is said to be popular even with people who are not fond of sweets. The well-known Yamadera cakes and kintsuba are also sold here.

    まんじゅう小100円、大250円、もろこし(小豆の粉の干菓子)個装80円、他にもいろいろあります。鉄釜に沸いている湯でお茶が飲めます。

This bento lunch box shop specializes in Yonezawa beef bentos, including its three specialty bentos, the Yonezawa Beef Extravaganza Bentos (by reservation) chock full with your choice of hamburger steak, cut-steak, or chopped steak. They offer special delivery of a bento to your train car on all trains departing from Yonezawa Station (by reservation, two days prior by 5 p.m.)

    With its large billboard, you can't miss this local souvenir shop just a way from the Tsuruoka Interchange off the Yamagata Expressway. This shop sells creative products made from the dadachamame bean grown on their farm. The dada pie, and the exquisite milky cream roll, the White Paris Roll, are some of the original products sold here. The dadakko soft cream cone is the most popular, and is only sold here at the Tsuruoka Inter Shop and the Sakata Station Store. This barrier free, all-white shop showcases their products in a relaxing spacious atmosphere suggestive of a cultural souvenir museum.

    ガラス張りで明るい、きれいなお店なので、気持ちよく買い物できます。種類も豊富ですし、試食もありましたので、近くの物産館とあわせて利用して、良いお買い物ができました。喫茶スペースもあり、ゆっくりできます。店員さんが新人さんだったのか、包装に手間取っていて、そこが唯一、残念でした。

There is a restaurant, and other areas for enjoying nature; a ski slope, a ball field, a golf course, tennis courts, and a fishing pond. The restaurant serves the very uncommon ostrich meat, and other menu items using the local fresh vegetables, along with the Asahi Town wine.

Although often overlooked, Yamagata prefecture by no means lacks appeal: the Yamadera temple trail through the mountains, deliciously tender Yonezawa wagyu, and over 100 steaming hot springs, most notably Zao Onsen, await visitors. When winter comes, the snowcapped peaks become dotted with skiers by day and onsen-goers by night, while summer brings the celebration of juicy Yamagata cherries.
