This is an Italian cuisine specialist shop with a slow food philosophy, on the first floor of a quiet roadside building about a one-minute walk from JR Kamakura Station’s west exit. With their own field, all the staff grow seasonal Kamakura vegetables and herbs which are used throughout the menu. As such, the menu depends on whichever vegetables were picked that day. The wines are also a treat, selected by sommeliers as perfect accompaniments for the food.

This is a pizzeria and trattoria offering pizzas baked in a real wood kiln. It has a combination of blackened exterior and shoji sliding door, and the Japanese atmosphere mixed with the interior’s modern vibe simply emanates style. The popular menu is abundant in Kamakura-grown seasonal vegetables.

This European curry specialty store along Yuigahama-odori Street, is a five-minute walk from Enoden’s Hase Station. It has a great reputation for carefully cooked authentic European curries, where one can feel the sweetness of vegetables and fruits. The chicken curry comes recommended, as the large piece of intact chicken is very juicy and can be gently broken up with a spoon. The rich special curry (1,250 yen) option where guests can choose their preferred curry to be topped with vegetables and a boiled egg is also popular.

The Special Beef Curry was delicious. And so was the green salad. Also lived the pickled onions and ginger. Excellent service too. Highly recommended.

Kanagawa Areas

Kanagawa prefecture acts as an extension of the Tokyo metropolis that spills over into coastal towns, most notably Yokohama city, heavily populated and known for its Chinatown and seaside attractions. Just the right distance for a day trip out of Tokyo, Kanagawa is home to some of Tokyo’s most accessible beaches, including around Kamakura, best known for its Big Buddha. Visitors can also travel a little farther afield for a weekend at Hakone onsen town.
