    This local cuisine restaurant is located in Ouchi-juku, roughly 15 minutes by car from Yunokami-Onsen Station. The building still has its straw thatched roof, for an olden times sensation you can feel in your skin. They are careful to use 100% specially grown soba for their juwari soba. “Ten zarusoba” with freshly made soba and homemade vegetable tempura is popular. Also, you can purchase “shingoro” —local dish of Minami Aizu—in front too. The half-polished rice is stuck on a skewer, coated with 10-year miso and then cooked on a charcoal grill—perfect food for walking and eating.

    食事としての利用もできるお店ですが、食べ歩きとして利用しました。福島県の郷土料理である「しんごろう」で有名です。天気も良かったので、食べ物片手に大内宿をぶらり歩き。おいしかったです。

    A restaurant which has stood in the commercial district not far from Aizuwakamatsu Castle since 1971. The restaurant’s vaunted soba noodles are a select gem made with Aizu gen-soba buckwheat ground in the restaurant’s own factory. The restaurant’s yumemi soba noodles, served simply in just a bowl of the miraculous waters of Mt. Iide, are so delicious, diners are encouraged to start with an order of them. Kiriya Gongentei is also notable for its barrier free efforts, and in spite of its old fashioned Japanese home exterior, any differences in levels between rooms have been removed and there is an elevator which can accommodate wheelchairs providing access to the second floor.

    A gyoza pot sticker restaurant established in 1953 located in Chugen Town, Fukushima City. The restaurant’s signature menu item is its enban gyoza, a round enban platter covered with 30 fresh pan fried gyoza consisting of a gyoza dough skillfully prepared from two kinds of flour stuffed with Chinese cabbage. The restaurant also offers boiled gyoza, boiled tofu, oshinko pickled vegetables, and more. Manpuku also sells gyoza for takeout starting at 30 gyoza minimum per order.

    The Aizu Ichiban-kan building was once the Kaiyo Clinic, which treated the future famed bacteriologist Hideyo Noguchi when he burned his hand as a baby. The first floor is a café which serves coffee with home-roasted beans as well as handmade cakes. The second floor is the Hideyo Noguchi Memorial Hall.

    午前中に七日町のどこか喫茶店に行きたいと思って探したけれど、昼前から開店するお店ばかり。観光地だから仕方ないのかなと思っていたら、ここが見つかりました。店の前の駐車場は埋まっていましたが、近くに提携の駐車場があります。野口英世ゆかりの建物だそうで、昔のレトロな喫茶店を楽しめました。

It looks like a Western-style restaurant on the outside but the most popular item on the menu is the hand-made juwari (100%) buckwheat soba noodles made with local buckwheat flour.     今回は娘が来ていたので夕食を兼ねてお邪魔しました。 夏野菜をメインにした料理、会津の地酒をいただきました。 今回もカウンターを利用しましたが、相変わらず手際よくお酒・料理とも出てきます。 お腹にガッツリなメニューは見当たりませんが、お酒とともに楽しむには最適です。 なるべく予約いただいた方が良いかと思います。

    Okuya Peanut Factory is famous for its Royal Peanut soft-serve ice cream made fresh every morning with Aizu-grown peanuts. The peanuts are crushed with the skins, and the ice cream served at a perfect almost-melting temperature. They also offer wholesale bean sweets, including Okuya specialty Hanayome Amanatto sugared red beans or Kentamame mixed nuts. Their Kogen no Tsuyu, made with large, moist, sweetened scarlet runner beans are a real hit. It’s five minutes’ walk from JR Kitakata station.

Operating out of an old Japanese home with a thatched roof, here you can enjoy soba noodles made with care according to a labor-intensive process. The restaurant's authentic, handmade soba noodles are created with a homemade flour stone milled from locally grown buckwheat. The restaurant also sells yaki-dango dumplings broiled at the front of the shop.

    宿のおかみさんに、どこのお蕎麦がおいしいか尋ねたところ教えていただいたのが、ここ山本屋さん。胡桃蕎麦が絶品だから食べて行ってと。ここだけで食べられるこのそばは本当に素晴らしい。聞いたところ、ネギ蕎麦はもともと他のところの食べ方が大内宿に渡ってきたとのことでした。（そういうわけで、この店にはネギ蕎麦はないのかな？）
