"This restaurant is located right after the Yukawa-minami Interchange on Aizu Jukan Kita Road. This cozy restaurant in a rural area serves Kitakata ramen, set meals, fried rice and yakisoba fried noodles. Their ""Himawari Ramen,"" which is limited to 20 servings a day, is a hearty dish in which the special pork belly is used to decorate the bowl like the petals of a sunflower. It is loved for its fatty and lean flavor, along with plenty of julienned green onions. Gourmet / Alcohol
    Fukushima Kitakata-shi 3-4774

This is the main shop of Taian Shokudo, a chain with several outlets throughout the Tohoku region, and they offer old fashioned Kitakata style ramen with medium-thick flat noodles with high alkaline content. The slippery, springy noodles have a fun, crinkly hand-made texture that matches the locally-sources soy sauce broth perfectly. You can order the special house-made soy broth extra rich, as well. The outside is built like an old-fashioned warehouse, which doesn't look at all like the usual ramen shop.
