    Kitakata City is famous as the home of Kitakata ramen, one of Japan’s three most popular varieties ramen. Makoto Shokudo, located in Otazukimichishita and established in 1947, is so popular customers wait in line for its ramen despite a plethora of choices in Hakata. The restaurant’s casual atmosphere will make you feel as if you’re in a regular Japanese home. Customer’s love Makoto’s meat-based broth and tirelessly delicious chewy crimped noodles, one of the distinctive features of Kitakata ramen. One of the restaurant’s hidden gems is its popular sauce katsu deep fried pork cutlets, and many customers come here just to eat some.

    A gyoza pot sticker restaurant established in 1953 located in Chugen Town, Fukushima City. The restaurant’s signature menu item is its enban gyoza, a round enban platter covered with 30 fresh pan fried gyoza consisting of a gyoza dough skillfully prepared from two kinds of flour stuffed with Chinese cabbage. The restaurant also offers boiled gyoza, boiled tofu, oshinko pickled vegetables, and more. Manpuku also sells gyoza for takeout starting at 30 gyoza minimum per order.

    福島名物の円盤餃子発祥の店です。福島駅からは歩いて15-20分ほどでしょうか。 近くまでバスで行くことができます。ゴールデンウィーク期間中だったためか昼から混んでおりました。餃子専門店らしくライスはなし。メニューも分かりやすく円盤餃子のみです。小ぶりな餃子が皿一杯に並んでいます。最高にビールと合い美味しいです。

    Originator of Kitakata ramen, Genraiken has been in operation since the Taisho period, preserving the traditional flavor of that era. Everything is handmade, from the noodles to the dumpling dough and red bean paste—worked with veteran skill you are sure to sense. These fine dishes are enough to impress even ramen connoisseurs—give them a try! Six minutes on foot from JR Kitakata Station.

    650 yen for a delicious bowl of ramen. Not the best ramen in town, but considering the low price its worth it. The dumplings leave something to be desired though.

    あっさりしょうゆ味の喜多方ラーメンは好きな味。こちらではチャーシューがたくさん乗ったラーメンを食べました。チャーシューも脂身が少なくあっさりとしているのでいくらでも食べられそうです。

    鬼肉って何かなと思ったら、これが噂の大きな豚の角煮!評判通り、柔らかくてジューシーで美味しかったです。醤油をいただきましたが、麺は細麺、スープもまぁ、普通。角煮が美味しかったので、ご飯で食べたい衝動に(笑) 店主さんの応対、店内の清掃、散らかってる感じで、これも噂通りで、そこがかなりマイナス。
