Hokkaido Hakodateshi Wakamatsuchou 9-15 bowl alley

This seafood restaurant is just a one-minute walk from Hakodate Station, near the entrance to the Donburi Yokocho Market. They are the company store for Yayoi Suisan seafood, certified for flavor and freshness and famous for their homemade additive-free salted salmon roe. Their popular Daimyo (Lord’s) Serving arranges brilliantly colored seafood in a jet-black dish and is a prime example of the Hakodate Bukkake meal. Their specialty salmon roe has been featured on TV and included in the rankings for Hakodate’s top 30 souvenirs as chosen by locals.

函館駅に着きとりあえず直ぐ海鮮物を食べたいという観光客にはお勧めです。海鮮丼に何品か付いたセットメニューも色々あります。横丁がある建物の中は魚の臭いが前回より強く感じられ (個人差はありますが)少し気になりました。

This is the first directly managed store of Hakodate’s well-established coffee shop “Misuzu Coffee”, which was opened in 1946. The shop directly sells a large selection of coffee beans from around the world freshly roasted. This is a tea room set in a partly renovated merchant house built in the late Meiji period located in Suehiro-cho, Hakodate City, Hokkaido. The exterior is a fusion of Japanese and western style, as is typical in Hakodate, and the interior is western-style like an upper class salon. The many antique furnishings make it a retro-modern space. The tea menu such as matcha (powdered green tea) set, three year aged coffee, fruit with sweet syrup set, which are served on fashionable tableware, is popular. There is also a set where you whisk your own green tea as in a tea ceremony.

This traditional sweets shop is located in Motomachi, Hakodate City in Hokkaido, and is the storekeeper’s family home which was constructed in 1921. It has been re-modelled and has an appearance that blends Japanese and western styles. The interior of the store is fashionably designed with table seats and counter seats. The sweets are all handmade, and the simple flavors of the sticky sweet skewered dumplings bring back old memories. There are also days when they sell out early as they are very popular. The large rice flour dumplings filled with homemade red bean paste (cream rice flour dumpling with syrup-covered red bean paste) are also popular. Tenmusu is also popular as a light snack between sightseeing.

Founded in 1956, Kikuyo Shokudo is a seafood restaurant along Tomoe-dori Avenue in Wakamatsu-cho in the city of Hakodate. Its menu is centered on seafood donburi (rice with toppings) using fresh squid, sea urchin, scallops, salmon roe, or other seafood, and it also serves several kinds of prix fixe meals, as well as sashimi and roasted fish. Its most popular menu item is Ganso Hakodate Tomoe Donburi, made with generous helpings of sea urchin, salmon roe, and scallops.

A sushi restaurant located close to the Goryokaku fort. The restaurant's sushi is made with seafood picked in the market by the owner himself. Sushikin is popular with local regulars. The restaurant's service is excellent and Sushikin was listed in the Michelin Guide Hokkaido 2017 Special Edition. Local musician Teru of the group Glay has eaten here with his family since he was a child and Sushikin is also a destination for fans of the band. The restaurant's sea urchin rolls, topped with shredded konbu seaweed, are called Glay Rolls.

An izakaya Japanese bar rooted in the local community in the city of Hakodate. The only seating available in the restaurant is private rooms with sunken kotatsu tables, ensuring diners can relax and enjoy their meals. All of the restaurant's seafood comes from the nearby ocean; Uomasa only serves fresh fish and never uses frozen or retort ingredients. The restaurant's vegetables also come direct from local farms which staff visit and order stock from. Uomasa's famed fish salted and dried overnight is handmade in the restaurant itself. The restaurant's ika-meshi consists of brown and glutinous rice stuffed and cooked inside a squid.

A restaurant dedicated to soup curry, a home-grown Hokkaido specialty. Diners can choose from among three soup bases-the Okuoku Soup, made with shrimp heads; the chicken bone-based Shibashiba Soup; and the Ikagoro Soup made from squid intestines. The toppings are also unique and many are visually impressive as well, such as the kakuni stewed cubes of Kaminokuni Town fruit pork, whole chicken legs, and xiaolongbao soup dumplings.

The restaurant's curry is made by combining a roux of flour sauteed with butter and spices to a broth slow-stewed over a three hour period, creating a unique flavor. Sweets on offer include the Hakodate Brick Nama Chocolate, made to look like little bricks and created with fresh cream and top class Couverture chocolate; L'eclat 813, a chocolate cake dusted with gold modeled after the Hakodate nightscape; and soft Pororo cookies named after the cry of the owl.

Operating out of a remodeled old Fukaya Rice Shop in a traditional Hakodate-style building, the structure still retains its lovely mixture of Japanese and Western influences. The establishment offers a variety of pinchos, bite-sized dishes typically served in bars in Spain. The menu includes a wide selection of dishes made with local marine products such as seafood preserved in oil or vinegar and cream croquettes. The simple homemade shishitora sausage is made with just 100% pork, salt, and paprika. The bar also stocks an array of alcoholic beverages including a special wine crafted by a Japanese maker in Spain.

A cafe in a remodeled old Japanese home next to St. John's Church near the Mt. Hakodate Ropeway. Marutamagoya's flavorful deep red borscht is made with pork, beets and potatoes grown near Hakodate. The renowned piroshkies are characterized by their chewy, plump crust. There are several varieties, including meat and egg, and spicy tomato lamb. The Hokkaido sika dear meat and maitake mushroom piroshkies are particularly popular. The cafe also sells wool and artwork made in collaboration with local artists.

This robatayaki Japanese barbecue shop is five minutes on foot from JR Hakodate Station. It's in the Daimon Yokocho Food Stall Village in Hakodate City, Hokkaido, and run by Minamikayabe's head fishing collective. Most of the locally sourced ingredients they use are only available at group member shops, and there are five-star green paper lanterns hanging outside the store. One recommendation is their local squid specialty called ikejime-maikasashi that's only available from June to December. There are also many other seasonal dishes such as live whelk from March to September.

This stand-bar is inside Daimon Yokocho, just three minutes' walk from Hakodate Station. Their Roast Pork, made with select pork meat, and drinks are both very reasonably priced. Their Morimachi SPF Thick Cut Pork Belly Skewers draw not only tourists but locals as well.

開業から15年で真裏には姉妹店があり、炭焼でなかなか美味。生ビール3杯と熱燗1合に食べ物5品で4,450円と安価でした。松前や江差、朝市やイカ刺し情報も参考になりました。
