    A rest house located a 20-minute walk from Hiraizumi Station on the JR Tohoku Main Line. Situated not farm from the World Heritage Chuson-ji Temple, in 2018 the rest house was selected as number four on a list of Japan's 100 best sightseeing and restaurant facilities as chosen by professionals. In Restaurant Gen, you can take in a view of the Tsukimizaka, the approach to Chuson-ji Temple, and enjoy choice dishes made with local Iwate ingredients. In Food Court Mon, you can eat local dishes like Hiraizumi's famous Benkei chikaramochi rice cakes at reasonable prices. There's also a gift shop which carries a wide variety of local products and souvenirs.

    A long-standing Japanese confectionery shop that has been around for over 100 years since the Meiji period. They sell a variety of Japanese sweets with a focus on showy high-grade Japanese fresh confections that reflect the seasons. Their Gomasuri-dango are a local favorite with velvety black sesame syrup in nicely textured mochi rice balls. Another local favorite is Tamura-no-Ume, featuring bean paste mixed with ume plum in gyuhi mochi wrapped in green shiso leaves. A sweet with a history, it was created on the orders of Tamura Clan, the feudal lord of Ichinoseki Domain since he hoped for some Ichinose specialty.

    A long-standing Japanese sweet shop founded in 1932. Its main shop is at the entrance to Esashi's Kuramachi Mall. They're dedicated to making sweets people love with a focus on safety, delicious flavor, and traditional hand craftsmanship. Their popular Iwayado yokan (sweet bean paste jelly) confection is wrapped in a bamboo leaf after solidifying in a rectangular wooden frame. Its traditional manufacturing method has been handed down in this region for nearly two hundred years. There are many other products that make great souvenirs too, such as their Mutsu-no-oja (their own version of a walnut tart from Switzerland's Engadin region) and their Fujiwara Yondai (pie-style manju buns).

    This teahouse is located next to the main building of Chusonji Temple in Koromonoseki, Hiraizumi, Hiraizumi Town, Nishiiwai County. It was donated by the entrepreneur Konosuke Matsushita (founder of Panasonic) in 1968 and designed by the iemoto (leader) of the UraSenke school of tea ceremony, Master Sen Soshitsu. Visitors to the temple can stop off there for a relaxing cup of matcha green tea and a traditional sweet.

    This restaurant is located along Prefectural Route 300 in Hanadate, HiraizumiTown, Nishiiwai County. It is famous for the traditional local meal, Mochizen, which features glutinous rice served with many different kinds of ingredients, including azuki beans and edamame. The most popular variety is the Fujiwara Sandai Omochizen, which consists of eight varieties of rice cakes served on a three-compartment tray. It also serves soba noodles and unique menu items such as Hiraizumi Horumon (organ meats).

    Small restaurant with small parking lot. Menu is not variety but its usual for local Japanese restaurant Wanko Soba is delicious. Unagi-don is very good. Friendly staff.

    Ekimae Bashokan serves Hiraizumi Wanko Soba, soba noodles served in small bowls, is located only a one-minute walk from Hiraizumi Station. It is a subdued one-story Japanese-style building with a tile roof within sight of Hiraizumi Station. Customers obtain refills of the small servings at their own individual pace. The popular Special Wanko Soba consists of soba portioned out into 24 small bowls, coming with things like spices, large servings of tempura, or fruit.     This restaurant serves local cuisine and is famous for its mochi rice cake dishes. It was established in 1991 and is located three minutes on foot from the West Entrance of Ichinoseki Station. The Original Bite-sized Mochi Set is a selection of eight bite-sized mochi including those with red bean jam, green soy bean jam and natto (fermented soy beans) and some grated Japanese radish in a bento box with nine sections, accompanied by ozoni (mochi soup).     久しぶりに夜伺いました。同僚とコースを楽しみました。最初のサラダから感動するくらい美味しい!勿論鉄板で焼かれる鯛やお肉も素晴らしかったです。デザートもとっても素敵でした。
