    Tokyo Shinjuku-ku Shinjuku 3-17-21
A veteran tonkatsu pork cutlet restaurant founded in 1921. A five-minute walk from Shinjuku Station, this shop nestled on the back streets of Isetan is said to be the birthplace of tonkatsu. The specialty is ton-don, pork cutlet curry on rice. The hearty dish features a chewy cutlet covered with a simple, old-style curry. The cutlet is coated with a mille-feuille-like crust that's soft enough to cut with a spoon, so it's popular among people of all ages . It's often tough to get a seat at lunch during the week.

I was taken here by a Japanese friend who thinks it is one of the best Tonkatsu and Ebi-Fry restaurants in Tokyo, and I have to agree. It was absolutely delicious! Ive been back here every time I go...

A creative cuisine restaurant located in Nishiwake, Ome City. Mayugura serves creative, nutritionally balanced dishes make use of seasonal ingredients with a focus on fresh vegetables. Try the Kurazen meal, which comes with aperitif, dessert, and multitier bento box, or the Mayuzen selection of small dishes and dessert; there’s also the vegetarian saishoku plate, curry, stew plates, and sweets.

    Tokyo Akiruno-shi Konakano 130
A five-minute drive from Musashi-Itsukaichi Station. This restaurant consists of a hoto udon noodle restaurant area and a traditional kaiseki course cuisine restaurant area. The noodle restaurant portion serves up over 23 varieties of hoto udon, and here you can try the Itsukaichi Hoto, a recreation of the kind of food enjoyed in the area from the 16th century. The kaiseki cuisine restaurant serves course meals made with an abundance of seasonal ingredients.

The kaiseki (traditional Japanese formal cuisine) restaurant Ichukyo is located along Prefectural Route 63 in Fujihashi 2-chome in the city of Ome. The monthly changing menu offers four set dinner menus, and there are also set menus that are served only at noon. The restaurant takes full advantage of its location in a Meiji-period building, and diners can forget the passage of time as they enjoy their meal in this relaxing setting.

This is the best in the area for sure, in comparison with Tokyo’s fine restaurants still on the top list. The garden & the restaurant are too beautiful to mix with old but well maintained mansion...

While remaining faithful to the basics of Japanese cuisine and traditions, Sakura offers many dishes that integrate contemporary elements into Edo cuisine. "A 3-minute walk from Shibamata Station on the Keisei Electric Railway line, this restaurant is located on the Teishakuten approach shopping street. It is a tempura restaurant established in 1885 and has been in business for more than 100 years. The tempura shop was used as a filming location for the movie ""Otoko wa Tsuraiyo"" (Otoko wa Tsuraiyo), and the restaurant serves freshly deep-fried tempura, tendon, and oden. Some of the tempura deep-fried in front of the restaurant include prawns that are over 20 cm in length. The view of the approach to the restaurant from the nostalgic store, which is filled with the atmosphere of the Showa period, is like being in a classic movie."

    テレビで紹介されているのをみて、天童を食べに行きました。カラっと揚がった天ぷらに、秘伝と思わせるような濃いたれがかかっていて、絶品。昔ながらの古い造りの店内も、よい雰囲気でした。

    Tokyo Koto-ku Kitasuna 4-24-5
"This oden hotpot shop is located in the Suna-machi Ginza Shotengai shopping arcade a short bus ride from Nishi-ojima Station on the Toei Subway Shinjuku Line. So popular it sees an unending stream of customers, the shop sells a wide variety of oden dishes to either eat standing up on the spot or take home and enjoy later. The selection of oden, kept stewing right in front of the shop, is so abundant, you'll have trouble remember everything that's available even after coming here several times. The shop's oden was even featured on the television version of the popular comic book ""Kodoku no Gourmet"" (""Solitary Gourmet""). The shop's oden dishes are soaked through with the delicious dashi stock used to boil them, and they have a mild, delicate flavor. Those ordering takeout will receive a hearty helping of dashi along with their oden dishes, which can then be brought home to be slowly savored at your leisure."

Tokyo Areas

around-area-map

The setting of countless iconic movie scenes and the inspiration for songs, poetry, and literature worldwide, Tokyo barely requires an introduction. It’s hard for the kaleidoscopic neon lights, wacky pop culture, and some of the world’s tallest structures not to instill excitement in any first-time visitor to Tokyo, whether you’re in the very center of the hustle and bustle in Shinjuku or Shibuya or looking in from the quieter suburbs.
