    This old shop was founded as an oil shop during the Edo period, but then went on to manufacture miso. They use domestically-produced soy beans to make their “aburaden miso” —naturally fermented in a traditional wooden barrel, with no additives, to produce a rich, aromatic taste. At the dengaku miso shop in the corner, you can try konnyaku dengaku, tofu dengaku, and sato-imo dengaku. The five buildings, including a Meiji-period storehouse, are designated as National Tangible Cultural Properties, as well as a charming fireplace in the back.

    ランチの為に2名で訪問したが、「今いっぱいで無理です」との返事。 店内外に待つ客はおらず、席は埋まっているものの、何時間もかけて食事をする店でもなく(メニューはラーメン、丼など)「〇分程待っていただければ」という返事を期待していたので、商売っ気のなさに驚く。ご縁がなかったのでしょう。
