    A famous restaurant visited by fans from far and wide and said to be the originator of sauce katsu-don, a local Fukui Prefecture specialty consisting of breaded pork cutlet soaked in Worcester sauce and served on a bowl of rice. It’s said sauce katsu-don was invented when the owner returned from a trip to Germany and, seeking to popularize the Worcester sauce he encountered there in Japan, created the dish to serve at a food fair in 1913. The shop’s pork cutlets, breaded with small panko bread crumbs, deep fried, and drenched in Worcester sauce, are so juicy and tender they can be cut with chopsticks. Served with several cutlets piled high on a bowl of rice, the shop’s sauce katsu-don is also visually impressive. The nearest station is Fukui Station.

A venerable business founded during the Meiji period (1868–1912), it sells fresh seafood caught in Mikuni Harbor and processed seafood. It boasts a wide range of seafood, including Echizen crabs, deep water shrimp, and flounder. In the onsite restaurant, customers can enjoy generous servings of seafood over rice, sashimi made from fish caught that day, or fish roasted on the beach. Customers can choose one of the famous Echizen crabs from the live storage tank and have it prepared any way they want.

The popular hirekatsu rice bowl is covered with a special sauce giving it a flavor unique to Fukui.     Run by a long-running fish wholesaler and purveyor to the Imperial Household Agency, this restaurant lets you taste the fresh bounty of the ocean taken from the nearby Mikuni Port. It is a famous shop featured in magazines and various media. The most popular item is “kaisen don” —a bountiful dish with sea urchin, salmon roe, and Mikuni seafood like squid and sweet shrimp piled high on rice. During crab season from November to March, you can enjoy a dish using luxurious Echizen crab that was even served to the Imperial Household. The building is a Japanese-style with Kara-mon gate (Chinese gate). Inside the shop there is a counter seat which is easy to enter alone. The nearest station is Mikuni-Minato Station.

    お盆休み中の12時前に訪れたましたが、既に行列が出来ており約30分待ちでした (コロナの影響でテーブル一つおきに着席)。 大半の方が注文するからか、海鮮丼はオーダーしてから割と早く提供いただけました。 海鮮がてんこ盛りで、特に甘海老が甘くて美味しかったです。付属の味噌汁も海老の出汁が非常に濃厚で美味しかったです。待つ価値はあったと思います。

    Echizen Kaninobo, located near Mikuni Port where there is a concentration of seafood from the Hokuriku Region, is a souvenir shop as well as a restaurant directly managed by Bouyourou, a well-established ryori ryokan (an inn focusing on food). At the souvenir shop, they sell seafood such as Echizen crab, which is also known as an item presented to the Imperial Household, dried seafood using fresh fish, and processed products. The second floor is a restaurant which offers a range of menu items from simple rice bowls and set meals to a full course meal with crab. The Kaisen chirashidon (a rice bowl scattered with seafood) and the Original Gasaebi Katsudon (a rice bowl topped with gasa shrimp cutlets), serving plenty of delicacies from the Japan Sea, are popular. The nearest station is Mikuniminato Station.

    店内は新しく、綺麗です。 豆腐づくしの5000円のコースを頂きました。 豆腐を色々な形で楽しませてくれようとする気持ちは伝わるのですが、あともうちょっとで美味しくなるだろう、残念な結果に終わっているお品も…。 お子様プレートも頼みましたが、こども向けのはずなのにドレッシングがかなり生姜が効いて、見た目も地味な色合いで少し残念。 全体的に値段と内容のバランスが取れていないと感じました。

    美味しいうなぎをいただきました。とってもふっくらしています。骨煎餅も進みます。お店も小綺麗で好感が持てます。空いていたのはそもそもこの辺に人がいないからかもしれません。三方五湖に訪れた際はおすすめです。

    This restaurant in a fishing port in Port in Kokonogi, Echizen-cho has a panoramic view of the port and you can enjoy fresh Echizen seafood throughout the year as well as Echizen crab dishes in the winter. During the Echizen crab season, you can eat crab selected by the owner from his own catch. Fishing restrictions are lifted from 6th November to 20th March and visitors can enjoy crab up to the end of April. The menu also includes rare seafood that is not sold commercially.

    取引先の方と来店しました。漁港に面したお店です。定食を注文。海老は新鮮で、揚げ物はカラッとしていて美味しかったです。蟹の季節に来たいと思いました。

    もともと越前藩医の別荘だったそうで、現在は「料亭の庭」です。インターホンで見学の由を伝えると入れてもらえます(9時ごろから料亭の営業開始まで)。屋敷には新旧の建物が点在しており、いくつかは営業用の新しいもの、国の登録文化財である「草庵」は資料館となっていますが、圧巻は笏谷石の採石場跡、コウモリが飛び交う、真夏でも涼しく、高湿度の空間です。

    熊川宿では代表的なお店です。定番の鯖寿司ご膳はもちろん美味しかったです!ただ印象に強く残ったのは、鯖寿司でも葛そばでもなく、デザートの葛ようかんでした。弾力がありながらもしっとりとした甘さが残る味で、とても美味しかったです。思わず、自分用のお土産として買ってしまいました(笑)食事処だけでなく、お土産屋さんとしても繁盛しています。熊川宿を訪れた際に是非、立ち寄って欲しい場所です。
