This ramen shop, established in 1960, serves up flavors loved by the locals. The flagship dish is the wonton noodles with melt-in-the-mouth wontons in chicken bone and dried fish stock soup. Also popular is the Mangetsu dipping ramen with a choice of two of three kinds of soup—limited to only 20 portions per day.

酒田と言えば満月さん、と聞かされてきたので晩ご飯に伺いましたが、噂通りのおいしさでした。ワンタンはほろほろとした皮と具の旨味がいい感じに組み合わさっていましたし、スープは出汁の風味がちょっと強い気がしましたが、細麺とマッチしていて美味しくいただけました。

This restaurant, which opened in 2003, specializes in fresh seafood and marine products. It offers fresh fish caught off the Shonai coast of the Japan Sea for reasonable prices. The “funamori-zen” and “tobishima-zen” dishes, of which only 30 to 50 portions are available daily, offer incredible volume for an amazing price. The other sets and rice bowls are popular for offering hearty helpings of seafood. It’s about a 10-minute drive from JR Sakata Station.

朝定はおすすめ。まず、会計で前払い。並んでいうちにお目当てが売れきれとなり、「無難な朝定食」を選びましたが、大当たり。朝から何千円もする「海鮮丼」は食べる気ないし、良かったです。

おいしいとんかつだった。久しぶりにお昼ごはんでご飯をお替りしてしてしまった。とんかつ自体は胸焼けせずさっぱりして楽しめた。

This sushi bar was founded in 1955 on the current site near Hie Shrine in Hiyoshi-cho, Sakata City. One can enjoy a bottle of microbrew jizake along with seasonal fresh nigiri-sushi or a la carte items. With the omakase chef selection course, 12-13 different items are prepared not only with soy sauce, but salt, citrus pepper, or grilled, as most tasteful at the discretion of the chef.

This is the main factory of Sakata Beika, the maker of rice crackers since 1951 located in Ryou-cho, Sakata City. Here, the trademark Holland sembei crackers are made, as well as the kagami sembei and usuyaki-shokunin chibisuke crackers. A 395 meter section is dedicated to the Holland sembei Factory, out of the 545-meter-long factory. Visitors can observe, shop, enjoy the cafe, or even try their hand at making the crackers.

山小屋を思わせるような三角屋根の建物のレストランでした。お食事はランチもディナーもすべておまかせのコースのみ。どんなお料理がいただけるかはその日のお楽しみです。「黒バイ貝のコロッケ」は、まあるい緑色のフォルムがかわいらしいお料理。ブルゴーニュ風に仕上げられ、苔のような緑はパセリで、中に食感のよい黒バイ貝が隠されていました。

About a 25-minute drive from the Sakata Minato Interchange off the Nihonkai Tohoku Expressway, this restaurant adjoins the Chokaizan Onsen Hoyo Center, Apon Nishihama day-use hot spring facility. The most popular dish on the menu is the voluminous Tontan-men, a spicy soup made from pork bone, miso with tan-tan noodles, topped with vegetables in a 30-centimeter bowl. Original to Yuza town, the Yuza curry is also popular. It is made with a special curry sauce using Chokaisan produce. This cafe has an open deck, and visitors can dine in or outside.

Just a three-minute drive from the JR Fukura Station, this Kiosk is in the parking area of the famous Juroku Rakan Iwa natural formation, which has been selected by the Japan Fisheries Agency as one of the 'top 100 historical cultural properties of fishing industries and villages that are to be preserved for the future.’ The specialty is yuhi ramen, sunset ramen, which uses spring water from Mt. Chokai with broth made from flying fish and topped with aosa seaweed. Other shops line the area selling souvenirs of Juroku Rakan hand towels, as well as simple galleries that sell photographs of the sun setting into the Sea of Japan. It is ideally located for a rest area on your way back from hiking or sightseeing in the region.
