    Hokkaido Asahikawa-shi Nagayama 3-jo 4-1-5
Asahikawa's only shop specializing in karinto sweet fried snacks which first opened in 1931. They sell over 20 different types of karinto all made with 100% Hokkaido wheat. To fight the image that karinto is oily and too sweet they use a manufacturing method that doesn't allow the oil to soak in to the snack. This results in a karinto with a crunchy texture and just the right amount of sweetness. In addition to their specialty Haruyutaka Karinto Brown Sugar and Honey they are also well known for their Black Pepper Karinto which has a tingly spicy taste that pairs perfectly with beer.

When this bakery first opened the fluffy mountain shape of their popular Nabe-pan bread was said to resemble a crown leading to the naming of the shop (Osama means King). They continue to make breads that are gentle on the body and spirit using local Hokkaido wheat and natural yeast. Amongst their many types of bread one of the most popular is their Walnut Nabe-pan, with large walnuts scattered through the bread. The walnuts are so well prepared that it's said that diners can't tell if each bite is bread or walnut. Their 100% Whole Wheat Loaf Shoku-pan Bread is also popular and is made completely without any additives, fermentation seasonings, hydrolysates, or flavor seasonings.

The owner spent ten years in France studying fermentology, and now offers a variety of cheese products, including Camembert Carre. Arriving in Hokkaido, which is rural and bursting with breathtaking nature, means entering a world where vast national parks, towering mountains, and natural hot springs can be found at every turn.
