- Okinawa Miyakojima-shi Shimoji Yonaha 1210
- This orchard is located about a 15-minute drive from Miyako Airport or about a six-minute walk from Yonaha Maehama Port. The orchard features fields of tropical fruit trees and plants including bananas, pineapples, and coconuts, allowing visitors to experience a tropical atmosphere. It also offers horseback riding on Miyako horses, a Natural Monument of the prefecture. The orchard also offers tropical guided tours in which participants are driven around the grounds in a golf cart by a staff member. The trip takes about 25 minutes. Juice, ice cream, and other items made with fresh fruit are sold at the orchard's cafe.

- Okinawa Miyakojima-shi Ueno Shinzato 1214
- This pottery is located along Prefectural Route 235 across from Shigira Bay Country Club on southern Miyako Island. It is attached to the sundries shop Nangoku Zakka Tida, which sells original merchandise such as their Miyakojima Beach T-shirts, and to the cafe Shima Cafe Tonkaraya, which serves lunches featuring Miyako beef and pork. Its works, which are all made with local clay and local glazes, are an original take on arayachi (unglazed Tsuboya ware). They are best known for their cheerful smiling shisa figurines. Visitors can enjoy hands-on activities such as shisa making and candle making. All activities require a reservation made at least one day in advance.

- Okinawa Miyakojima-shi Hirara Matsubara 1135-6
- This pottery shop located along National Route 390 about a 10-minute drive from Miyako Airport makes and sells pottery. As the name suggests, it primarily makes and sells earthenware shisa figurines. It uses materials that can be sourced on the island such as clay, wood, and coral. Their works are notable for a style that is not restricted by the conventional appearance of shisa. The shop even offers made-to-order items. It also offers popular shisa-making classes. We recommend making reservations during the busy season, as the classes are liable to fill up.

Okinawa Areas
Let go of your image of a busy, ordered Japan and replace it with crystal-clear waters, white sand beaches, and relaxing folk music: You’ve arrived in Okinawa. A world away from the high intensity of Tokyo, Okinawans appear to live a laid-back beach life on this paradisiacal tropical island that lies in the middle of the East China Sea almost 1,000 kilometers south of mainland Japan’s most southern tip. Home to a spattering of islands, prepare yourself to discover underwater caves, star-shaped sand, and an island culture sometimes unrecognizable from mainland Japan.
