Imugya Marine Garden is a marine park located in a beautiful natural cove in the southern part of Miyako Island. Part of the cove (which is formed by a protruding peninsula) has been transformed into a park, with toilets and showers (which can be used free of charge). The waves inside the cove are relatively gentle, and families with children can be seen happily playing on the rocks. There are scattered reefs on the seabed within the cove, which are a habitat for a wide variety of fish, making this a popular place for snorkeling. There is a hiking path that goes round the cove, and an observation platform on top of a nearby hill, which affords wonderful views of the ocean.

Okinawa Areas

Let go of your image of a busy, ordered Japan and replace it with crystal-clear waters, white sand beaches, and relaxing folk music: You’ve arrived in Okinawa. A world away from the high intensity of Tokyo, Okinawans appear to live a laid-back beach life on this paradisiacal tropical island that lies in the middle of the East China Sea almost 1,000 kilometers south of mainland Japan’s most southern tip. Home to a spattering of islands, prepare yourself to discover underwater caves, star-shaped sand, and an island culture sometimes unrecognizable from mainland Japan.
