An apple orchard sprawling on lush Ilum Hill. On grounds which visitors may freely explore, the farm primarily cultivates some 3,000 apple trees spanning 18 varieties. As the farm's Miki Life, Sansa, Tsugaru, Red Gold, and other apple varieties ripen at different times, visitors can enjoy fruit picking across a relatively long span. The farm also holds farming activities to further understanding of agriculture among the children who will be society's future leaders, as well as farm activity watching and socializing events so that as many consumers as possible can learn about the workings of the farm.

  • Kita no Arashiyama
    Travel / Tourism
    Hokkaido Asahikawa-shi Asahigaoka 1-3
"The collective term from the area at the foot of Arashiyama situated west of Asahikawa. The area's sprawling residential district is reminiscent of Karuizawa's holiday home belt. The area is also dotted with pottery studios, and accordingly it is known to locals as ""ceramics village."" It is rare for pottery studios to gather in one location, and it is said this area is the only such place in Hokkaido. The potters here are known for creating unique, distinctive pieces not bound by tradition; many allow visitors to view work in the studios and offer pottery making activities. Originally the area was known as ""Arashiyama Togei no Sato"" (""Arashiyama Ceramics Village""), but after an increasing number of glassware studios, dyeing studios, galleries, and cafes took root here, its name was changed to ""Kita no Arashiyama"" (""Arashiyama of the North"") due to its resemblance to the Arashiyama area in Kyoto."

Hokkaido Areas

around-area-map

Not just a prefecture but an island of its own, Hokkaido is the most northerly prefecture and island of the Japanese archipelago. Arriving in Hokkaido, which is rural and bursting with breathtaking nature, means entering a world where vast national parks, towering mountains, and natural hot springs can be found at every turn. Come December, these natural splendors freeze over and morph into a winter wonderland.
