- Soba-Toto is a Soba noodles restaurant situated at the foot of Mt. Takao in Takao Town, Hachioji City. Besides hand-made Soba noodles made using buckwheat flour ground using a traditional stone mortar, Soba-Toto also serves other cuisine, the ingredients for which include organic seasonal vegetables and organic cereals. The restaurant’s “Tenseiro” Soba-noodles dish, which has tempura made using seasonal vegetables added to it, is especially popular.

- Tokyo Arakawa-ku Minami-senju 1-27-6
- "A three-minute walk from the Minowabashi stop on the Toden Arakawa Line. This long-standing soba noodle restaurant is the successor to Sunaba, counted amongst the three great Edo soba noodle restaurants alongside Yabu and Sarashina. ""Sunaba"" means ""sand pit,"" and according to legend this restaurant is one of two which split off from a flourishing soba noodle stand which was opened next to a sand pit used as a place for storing materials during the construction of Osaka Castle. The restaurant's Hanamaki Soba, a kakesoba noodles in hot broth dish covered with crumbled toasted nori resembling fallen cherry blossoms, is served with fresh-grated wasabi which brings out the flavor of the chewy noodles. The restaurant serves jumbo-sized shrimp tempura when you order Ten Zaru (soba noodles served on a draining basket with a side of tempura) or Tempura Soba (soba noodle soup served with tempura on top), but this service is only available in limited quantities on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays."

- "This long-established soba buckwheat noodle restaurant started in the Bunkyu period (1861-1864). You can have fragrant freshly-made soba noodles in a shop with a long history and tradition. Standing in front of Jindaiji Temple's Sanmon gate, this shop boasts not only soba but also its beautiful scenery. It is known as a place where you can enjoy seasonal expressions such as cherry blossoms in the spring, fresh greenery in the summer, autumn leaves, and the silver world of winter. One of its recommended dishes is ""Musashino,"" a set that comes with of sanmi soba (buckwheat noodles with grated daikon radish, laver and mitsuba parsley) and vegetable tempura. It is a popular menu item where you can enjoy firm soba noodles and wild herb tempura with plenty of crispness. In the autumn, maple leaf tempura is also offered with its vivid color."

- "This soba restaurant is located along the approach to Jindaiji Temple. Here you can enjoy special dishes made with Japanese buckwheat flour, right in front of the temple gate with its remnants of old Musashino. Open-air terrace seats are available on the first floor of the shop, and you can enjoy your soba noodles in a pleasant breeze on days with good weather. Chair seating is available on the second floor, which can accommodate up to 80 people in the case of gatherings or group travel. The soba noodles in all dishes offered at the restaurant can be replaced with ""arabiki"" soba noodles (made of coarse buckwheat flour) for an extra charge. Arabiki soba, perfect for enjoying the true fragrance of the buckwheat noodles, is made with an original blend and limited to 30 dishes per day, so it is often sold out in the afternoon."

- "This restaurant is located in front of Takaosan Cable Car Station. A historical shop founded during the Tenpo era (1830-1842) in the late Edo period, you can enjoy specialty soba buckwheat noodles made with 60% buckwheat flour kneaded with grated yam and high-quality flour. The grated yam is a combination of ""yamatoimo"" yam and ""nagaimo"" yam, and is characterized by its rich taste. In addition to soba noodles, you can also enjoy dishes with ingredients and tastes unique to Mt. Takao, such as ""mugitoro-han"" (rice and barley dish served with yam), ""yuba konnyaku kamaage"" (yam cake jelly made with soy milk) and grilled miso. Group travelers can also reserve a kaiseki-style lunch in a rustic ""zenza"" room, surrounded by the four seasons of Takao."

- "This udon shop is located next to the Tokyo Metropolitan Governmento Hachijo Branch. This shop has a cozy atmosphere and sells handmade udon noodles that have ""ashitaba"" (herb in the parsley family) kneaded into them. These slender noodles with a strong texture and delicate aroma are also popular with the islanders. In the summer, the popular cold noodle dish ""hiyashi tanuki soba"" is served with so many bonito flakes that you cannot see the noodles. The hiyashi tanuki soba topped with ashitaba tempura and the spicy curry udon served with a large breaded pork cutlet are so big that even men cannot finish them."

- This udon noodle shop is located on a back alley of the Sugamo Jizo-dori Shopping Street. This restaurant sits along the back end of Koganji Temple and features a modern, eye-catching exterior, and inside guests can enjoy their specially prepared original udon dishes. Their refined, yet mild curry roux is based on their own original recipe that's specifically made for udon. They also have a meticulously prepared bonito dashi stock to pair with their recipes, which comes by way of a unique blend of well-cooked veggies and fruits that's practically impossible to imitate. Since their founding in 1983, they have continued to carry on their much-loved flavors to each new generation of diners.

- "This well-known soba shop has a showcase menu item called ""Sudachi Soba,"" which features a refreshingly acidic taste that keeps customers coming back for more. Buckwheat starts to go stale the instant it is ground up, so they make sure to get their soba noodles shipped in directly from farmers and grind it fresh each day. They use three different types of grind settings for this: finely ground, coarsely ground, and thick cut. This tucked away soba restaurant has a modern, stylish interior that stands out from most places of its kind. They also feature a large selection of a la carte dishes based on traditional Japanese-style cooking, as well as an assortment of Japanese sake to choose from since many guests love to come in to dine over a relaxing drink."

Tokyo Areas
The setting of countless iconic movie scenes and the inspiration for songs, poetry, and literature worldwide, Tokyo barely requires an introduction. It’s hard for the kaleidoscopic neon lights, wacky pop culture, and some of the world’s tallest structures not to instill excitement in any first-time visitor to Tokyo, whether you’re in the very center of the hustle and bustle in Shinjuku or Shibuya or looking in from the quieter suburbs.
