This soba restaurant is 10 minutes by car from the Kutchan Station on the JR Hakodate line. One can enjoy soba noodles made from discriminatingly selected flours. The spacious bright interior has a tasteful Japanese modern appearance. One can choose between nihachi-soba (80% soba flour noodles) or the juwari-soba (100% soba flour noodles) to be enjoyed with local edible herbs or mushrooms, or tender duck meat from Takikawa. The broth is created using five kinds of fish stock including bonito and mackerel using natural spring water from Niseko. They also offer alcoholic beverages with snacks, and rice. These hand-made soba noodles cut daily on the premise are even popular with foreign visitors.

if you are in Niseko this place is a must for an authentic bowl of Soba. from the moment we walked in we were greeted with the most amazing fragrance of the soba broth. service was fast and menu was...

    Hokkaido Abutagunkyougokuchou Koushin 466-5
An udon noodle restaurant which looks like an old Japanese-style home and which commands a view of Mt. Yotei. In order to serve the tastiest udon in Hokkaido, the owner quit his job as an office worker and apprenticed at a famous udon restaurant in Osaka before opening his own establishment. Making as little use of additives as possible, the noodles are made with 100% domestic flour and natural sea salt from Naruto, while the broth is made by slowly simmering konbu kelp and katsuo skipjack tuna in spring water from Mt. Yotei. The restaurant serves cold and hot udon noodles with a variety of toppings. One of the most popular items on the menu is the Chikutamaten Bukkake Udon, which is topped with runny soft-boiled egg tempura and chikuwa fish paste sausage tempura. The owner recommends the Nonosan Donsukinabe, a party-style dish in which udon noodles take center stage.

Been here before many years ago, was much better then. I understand that you wanna live for the many passing toursits and raise your prices. But 1.100 yen for a Chicken Tempura udon while there are...

The head office of the long-established soba (buckwheat noodles) shop, Azumaya, founded in 1874. The traditions passed down over generations, and spirit infused into the soba noodles, are priceless. It’s a shop where you really feel the history and passing of time. Many famous people come here to eat and it’s a perfect place to come and entertain guests.

    初めて食べたけど、美味しいです。 あっさりしていて何個でも食べれてしまう感じでした。また、次も行ったら食べようと思います。

    Hokkaido Iwamizawashi Motomachichijouhigashi 8-38-8
Presented in the Michelin Guide, this renowned handmade soba restaurant has also been selected as one of the top ten restaurants in Iwamizawa. Kimura is located in a residential area sprawling along the train tracks extending northeast from JR Iwamizawa Station. The bukkake soba, one of the restaurant's most popular menu items, is covered with rock nori and tempura. You'll also find takato soba on the menu, a rarity in Hokkaido. This soba is topped with grated daikon and katsuobushi as well as an eye-catching green onion stalk. Use the onion as both condiment and a replacement for your chopsticks.

    Hokkaido Otaru-shi Sumiyoshicho 6-16
This soba restaurant has a prominent appearance that one would not usually imagine to be a restaurant. It is located three minutes' walk from Minami-Otaru Station. Customers can enjoy authentic handmade soba noodles in the early Showa period atmosphere of the restaurant. The restaurant has a choice of two types of noodle, according to the customer's preference and their choice of menu, Inaka Soba, which is the epitome of authentic soba noodles, and Sarashina Soba, which has an elegant flavor. Both types of noodle offer a wonderful experience with the scent of fresh buckwheat. The building itself was constructed in the early Showa period, and has a strong historical feel to it. Even after more than 60 years since its construction, the structure's interior and exterior are still in excellent condition. And customers can really feel the spirit of Otaru, which cherishes the high level of construction technology and its historical buildings of the time.

    平日の午後、昼時を過ぎていたので店内は空いていました。一品料理を四品頼み、ラストオーダーまでビールを飲みました。レンコンの料理が美味しかったです。

Hokkaido Areas

around-area-map

Not just a prefecture but an island of its own, Hokkaido is the most northerly prefecture and island of the Japanese archipelago. Arriving in Hokkaido, which is rural and bursting with breathtaking nature, means entering a world where vast national parks, towering mountains, and natural hot springs can be found at every turn. Come December, these natural splendors freeze over and morph into a winter wonderland.
