Shopping Spots in Numata / Oigami / Oze Area

  • Kashinoki Sweets Shop
    9 Reviews
    Gunma Pref. Numatashi Nakamachi 1122-4
This sweets shop is located along the Japan Romantic Road in Nakamachi, Numata City. It boasts an excellent fluffy and moist Baumkuchen, baked painstakingly with a goodly amount of rum. There are several types, including a standard type, which is coated with chocolate, and also a plain type, which contains no chocolate on their standard menu. Additionally, the shop has a rich line of seasonal limited items including choco-kuchen which has chocolate mixed into the dough and lemon-kuchen which uses a lemon-chocolate mix. The shop is so adorable and fairy-like, it has even been a candidate for the filming of a TV drama.

  • Waterfall Station - Fukiware-no-taki Falls
    Leisure / Hobbies
    Gunma Pref. Numatashi Tonemachiokkai 3-2
This waterfall station is located approximately 20 minutes along National Route 120, from the Kan-etsu Expressway Numata Interchange. It is a rest area near Fukiware Falls, a nationally designated natural treasure. There are restaurants and direct sale vegetable stores, as well as free toilets and parking. The direct sales stores sell a wide range of cheap, fresh produce such as corn in the summer and apples and mushrooms in the autumn. The restaurants sell local dishes such as Ginger Roast and cutlets made with Joshu Mochi pork and dishes made with fresh, local vegetables, which are popular thanks to being homemade and having a relaxing flavor.
  • Oze Marshland Rest Area
    Gourmet / Alcohol

A rest area located in the Oze Marshland. Standing next to the Ozenuma Sanso mountain villa, the rest area has a restaurant and gift and souvenir shop. In the restaurant, you can enjoy light meals such as udon noodles, soba noodles, and kakuni stewed pork belly ramen; the scarlet runner bean gelato is particularly popular. The shop sells a variety of gifts, souvenirs, and Mont Bell products. Visitors can take in a view of Oze Marshland and Hiuchigatake beyond and take a relaxing break in an open, area, and relaxing location. The rest area also bustles with hikers using it as a base for hiking in Oze Marshland and climbing Hiuchigatake.

    Gunma Pref. Tonegunkatashinamura Higashiogawa
This four kilometer long stretch of road on National Route extending from Shimo-Ogawa is lined with some 30 farm stands and markets open from late April to early November. Gunma Main Areas

Gunma prefecture is synonymous with onsen. Natural hot spring water sources throughout the prefecture have given rise to a series of small onsen towns, each set among luscious mountains. At Kusatsu, Ikaho, and Minakami, traditional indoor and outdoor bathing experiences are served hand in hand with irresistible onsen-themed food, including steam-cooked eggs and custard pudding.
