Kashinoki Sweets Shop洋菓子工房 樫の木

Pastries

This sweets shop is located along the Japan Romantic Road in Nakamachi, Numata City. It boasts an excellent fluffy and moist Baumkuchen, baked painstakingly with a goodly amount of rum. There are several types, including a standard type, which is coated with chocolate, and also a plain type, which contains no chocolate on their standard menu. Additionally, the shop has a rich line of seasonal limited items including choco-kuchen which has chocolate mixed into the dough and lemon-kuchen which uses a lemon-chocolate mix. The shop is so adorable and fairy-like, it has even been a candidate for the filming of a TV drama.

Gunma prefecture is synonymous with onsen. Natural hot spring water sources throughout the prefecture have given rise to a series of small onsen towns, each set among luscious mountains. At Kusatsu, Ikaho, and Minakami, traditional indoor and outdoor bathing experiences are served hand in hand with irresistible onsen-themed food, including steam-cooked eggs and custard pudding.
