    Oita Kunisaki-shi Akimachi Futago 1594-1
This restaurant and souvenir shop, a 30-minute drive from Oita Airport, is located at the entrance to the approach to the Futago-ji Temple in the center of the Rokugo Manzan temples. The restaurant serves soba noodles made with famous spring water and dishes crafted from fresh local ingredients. Particularly popular selections include the Kaiun Soba meal, which includes cold zaru soba noodles as well as six small side dishes; and the Tenzaru Soba meal, which comes with zaru soba noodles and crispy, piping hot tempura made with seasonal vegetables. The hot Kamo Negi Soba noodles, just the thing to enjoy on a cold day, are served in a broth which perfectly pairs an abundance of locally grown spring onions with the rich flavor of duck. The omelet rice, made with tori meshi chicken rice, is also recommended. Pets are allowed in the restaurant's terrace seating area.

    六郷満山でメインの両子寺すぐのレストラン。この辺りには食事が出来るところが少ないこともあり、空腹になったら立ち寄っておきたい店です。

This longstanding sake brewery, established in 1873 and known for its Nishinoseki brand of refined sakes, is a 10-minute drive from the Oita Airport. Unswayed by trends and fads, the brewery continues to promote the quality of handcraftsmanship and refine traditional production methods which fully draw out the innate flavor of sake. The brewery's Nishinoseki brand was so named in the late 19th century in the hope that it could come to symbolize sake in western Japan. Also the company's most recognizable brand, Nishinoseki sakes are created with the aim of drawing out the innate deliciousness of Japanese sake, harmoniously balancing sweetness, tartness, dryness, bitterness, and astringency. In Sake Gallery Tozai on the brewery's grounds, you can sample and purchase the company's beverages.

"This longstanding Japanese confectionary shop, established in 1919, stands on Bungotakada 's Shinmachi-dori Shopping Street, a shopping street which was revitalized as a retro ""Showa Town"" and which is once again being visited by tourists. One of the city's designated Showa Town establishments, the shop continues to sell castella cakes, maruboro biscuits, yokan jelly, and other old-fashioned Japanese confections. The shop's signature popsicles and milkshake cups, veritable summertime traditions in the area, are made according to methods which have been used since before World War II.

Oita Areas

around-area-map

A trip to Oita is tantamount to a long soak in the Beppu baths. The mountainous, coastal prefecture of Oita is renowned for having more onsen than any other prefecture in Japan, most of which lie in the city of Beppu on the west coast of Kyushu, recognizable by its pungent sulphuric aroma and the clouds of steam that puff up across the hillside. Away from the Beppu hot springs await mountains, waterfalls, and temples, so don’t hesitate to explore Oita a little further.
