Morikawa Hokokudo
"This longstanding Japanese confectionary shop, established in 1919, stands on Bungotakada 's Shinmachi-dori Shopping Street, a shopping street which was revitalized as a retro ""Showa Town"" and which is once again being visited by tourists. One of the city's designated Showa Town establishments, the shop continues to sell castella cakes, maruboro biscuits, yokan jelly, and other old-fashioned Japanese confections. The shop's signature popsicles and milkshake cups, veritable summertime traditions in the area, are made according to methods which have been used since before World War II. The shop's peanuts, roasted in-house using locally grown peanuts, are also popular, not only with locals but tourists as well."
