This Japanese restaurant that offers seafood from Ise Shima is located a seven-minute walk from the Kintetsu Railway Toba Line's Toba Station. The marker for this restaurant is a long signboard with 漣 (Sazanami) written on it. Their signature menu item is a dish with three deep-fried shrimp that are about 20 centimeters long. In addition, they have many menu items using local food ingredients such as deep-fried horse mackerel and simmered abalone. They put a lot of work in their sashimi, and their set meals with them are also popular. They also offer set menus like their Akoya Gozen where you can eat both their deep-fried and sashimi dishes.

Very delicious food. One of my best meals in this trip. Had a big lobster, row (sashimi) and it was so good. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

This seafood restaurant with a focus on oysters is in Uramuracho, Toba City, Mie Prefecture. They offer all-you-can-eat oysters baked in their own steel drum from November to March. Grown in a short one-year period, the rich environment means they taste great with little astringency. In other seasons they offer fare such as rock oyster and assorted fried seafood set meals, seafood rice bowls and wild conger eel rice bowls, rice with Uramura caught octopus, and more.

This seafood restaurant is directly managed by the fishing cooperative in Shiosai-no-Eki located in Katakami Town, Toba City, Mie Prefecture. They focus on using seasonal ingredients unique to Ise-Shima, and serve dishes with voluminous portions using fresh seafood taken from each fishing port. The popular menu is the gorgeous Kumiai-cho Teishoku set meal that looks like a dish served in a ryokan (Japanese inn). One can enjoy all at once local tastes that include Ise-ebi spiny lobster, a sashimi assortment, nitsuke (fish boiled in soy sauce) made with local fish, and flame-broiled shellfish. The inside of the shop has the atmosphere of a simple yet traditional cafeteria, and is easy to use either by groups large or small.

Kaitaro is a restaurant that is directly managed by the long-standing local seafood wholesaler of the same name, and guests here can enjoy the seasonal tastes of the sea throughout the year. The ingredients are bought from local ama divers and fisherman who harvested the marine products themselves, and all of the items on the menu that make the most of the seafood’s natural flavor are outstanding. Of those, the Ryoshi-no-Gokai-don and Hamayaki Ryori are very popular.

At this restaurant in Arashima Town, Toba City, Mie Prefecture, you can taste food made for the local fishermen using the freshest seafood. The owner of the restaurant, Mr. Sakurai, helped out in the family ryokan from a young age and also has experience as a fisherman. Seasonal delights caught from all the fishing ports around Toba are bought direct from fishermen and prepared at the restaurant. The restaurant’s menu centers on hearty and homely dishes such as seafood rice bowl, Japanese spiny lobster croquettes, deep-fried prawns, and mekabu (thick wakame seaweed leaves) croquettes, etc. As well as seating at tables and on tatami mats where you can stretch your legs and relax, they also have seating at the counter which is convenient for those eating alone.

This seafood Japanese restaurant uses local ingredients from Toba. The fresh seafood used is hauled into the local port. Their popular menu item is the filling seafood rice bowl with six kinds of ingredients with added sea urchin and salmon roe. The ama no kamameshi flavored rice dish filled with clams, shrimp and octopus can be enjoyed as a course meal or taken home as a bento lunch box. The restaurant has approximately 180 different items on the menu rich with regional dishes, including Ise udon noodles and tekone sushi, Ise's traditional chirashi scattered sushi. Because they have private rooms and a banquet hall, the restaurant can also be used for meetings, events and memorial services.

It’s very nice restaurant and we went there two nights. It’s fully occupied, with local people and foreigners. Wagyu and BBQ is delicious. Highly recommend.

This specialty shop for Ise-ebi spiny lobster and abalone is located in Oakihigashi Town, Toba City, Mie Prefecture, and here one can enjoy Ise-Shima’s fresh marine products to their heart’s content. Popular choices include their Kaisen Mushi Ryori (seafood steamed dishes) in which Ise-ebi spiny lobster just taken up from the live fish tank or wild abalone harvested by the ama (female divers) are steamed just as they are. They pride themselves on these masterpieces in which the tender texture and condensed umami flavor spreads out into your mouth. Marumitsu Sushi serves sushi and other seafood on Toshijima Island, which lies offshore from Toba. It is a five-minute walk from Wagu Harbor. Visitors are attracted by the kind of fresh seafood that one expects to find on an island and by the hideaway atmosphere of the restaurant, which has been featured many times in the local media. The seafood couldn't be any fresher: live fish and shellfish are kept in large tanks and buckets in the restaurant, and they are immediately prepared for cooking after the customer places an order. Groups of two or more can order a chef's special with a whole spiny lobster, including servings in the original shape of the lobster, and other splendid creations with freshly caught seafood, available at a reasonable price.

This Japanese restaurant is about three minutes on foot from the Kintetsu Shima Line's Toba station. They have a diverse menu including a rice bowl topped with plenty seafood straight from the ocean and cuisine from Toba's remote Toshijima Island. Their specialties are a large asari clam set meal with seafood from Toshijima Island and Iseshima's Tekone Sushi. Both are arranged beautifully and made with seasonal ingredients. The shop is cheery and relaxed with table and tatami mat floor seating, making it accessible to families with small children too.

This ryotei Japanese restaurant in Toba City, Mie Prefecture specializes in Matsusaka beef and select Japanese black beef. All the rooms have tatami mat floor seating in a settled Japanese ambiance. You can gaze at their beautiful garden from the veranda. The owner is a Matsusaka beef enthusiast and buys the restaurant's meat directly from the source, where Matsusaka cattle are carefully raised. As a result, the menu is full of delectable Matsusaka beef, including dishes like delicious sukiyaki (thin slices of beef cooked with vegetables at the table in a cast-iron pan), shabu-shabu (thinly sliced meat boiled with vegetables and dipped in sauce), grilled beef, and steak. Whatever you order, a server prepares it right before your eyes.

This seafood restaurant is directly connected to Kintetsu Railway's and JR's Toba Station. With the concept that fish is best raw! they offer fresh local seafood dishes. One recommended menu item is their sashimi set meal that following this concept using fish purchased that day from Toba, Shima and Minami-Ise. They also offer a menu with exclusive seasonal items such as abalone, scallops and oysters. In addition to fish, particularly use a koshihikari variety of rice grown with the clear water of the Ichinose River, and you can see their attention to detail in other ways such as their use of spring water.

An ama hut is where female divers rest when not out fishing. You can chat with active divers and eat freshly caught seafood. Reservations are necessary and can be made for groups of at least four people by telephone or online. There are separate courses for lunchtime and dinnertime. It is recommended that you should come for lunch if you want to fully enjoy the seafood, and come for teatime in order to enjoy chatting with the divers. In addition, you can also order Japanese spiny lobster at a special price during lunchtime. In addition, there are commemorative photographs you can take with the divers, and you can try on the traditional diving gear called isogi.
