Hakoda, visitors can enjoy an impressive panorama encompassing the Chita Peninsula and Cape Daio. On clear days Mt. Fuji is also visible. The observatory also has a café and restaurant selected as offering one of the 30 best views in all Japan. This historic residence and medical clinic about three-minutes on foot from Toba Station is where poet Irako Seihaku passed his time in Toba from the Meiji Period until the early Showa Period. This covered 22 years, from when he was posted to Toba Town's Ohama in 1922 until he moved to what is now Taiki Town in Watarai County. The buildings that survive are the same as they were back then, giving visitors a chance to take in a simple wooden house from Japan's past. They also hold exhibitions related to Irako Seihaku that you can view at your leisure. There's a beautiful and soothing view from the second floor.

Starting as oo-shoya in the late Edo period, this former Hirono family residence was converted into a pharmacy by the name of “Kadoya” until the Taisho period. The main building, built in 1825, was renovated as a place to educate people on Toba’s culture and traditions. There is a strong sense of the Edo period with medical documents and tools as well as other items left to give you a feel of daily life at that time. The first-floor room can be rented. The nearest train station is Nakanogo Station.

The first floor is the shopping area, and the second floor has a tour course and gallery. In the sales area, you can choose accessories while consulting with the staff, and also go on a tour course listening to an audio guide and watching videos explaining the unknown mysteries of the ocean, several tales about pearls, the principles of making pearls and global environmental problems on a large 200-inch screen with an amazing sound. You can see the craftsmen actually working and witness the moment each pearl becomes an accessory.

This was an excellent museum!! I learned more about oysters and pearls and the process of making cultured pearls than I ever knew there was to know. There were plenty of very informative signs...

Legend has it that the name “Yoroizaki” was chosen when Yamahito no Mikoto, seeking the place where Amaterasu was enshrined, visited Kuzaki and removed his yoroi (meaning armor) on the promontory.
