Every year, a festival called Yaya Matsuri, a festival principally for young men, is held on Old New Year, February 1 to 5, and it is considered one of Japan's many strange festivals. Two large camphor trees that stand within the precincts are considered husband and wife trees, and are said to be more than a thousand years old. They have been designated prefectural natural monuments.
