Their menu only has courses of random dishes selected by the restaurant, so you can enjoy amazing local dishes surrounded by a sunken fireplace heated by charcoal. They made various dishes such as river fish including sweetfish grilled in the fireplace, mountain bounty such as mountain vegetables and matsutake mushrooms, duck hot pots and venison fillets depending on the season and timing. They offer everything from Japanese sake to champagne and red wine that matches your meal.

This goheimochi (broiled rice cake skewers) specialty shop has been in business for 64 years. Here you can buy goheimochi, a local Tono region dish, starting from just a single skewer. Goheimochi is made by rolling mashed rice into balls; skewering them on a stick; covering them with a sweet sauce made with ingredients such as soy sauce, sugar, sesame seeds; and walnuts, and broiling them. Goheimochi is a local specialty that has been a favorite in eastern Mino since ancient times. Containing an abundance of protein, iron, calcium, and vitamin B complex, goheimochi is renowned not only for its flavor but also for being good for the body. Located in front of Ena station, you can also order the Goheimochi Teishoku (set meal), which comes with six goheimochi skewers, miso soup, Japanese pickles, edible wild plants, and fruit.

This confectionery is located about 100 meters from the Toson Memorial Museum. It is a specialty store that serves the local Kiso dish Goheimochi, which is made by crushing rice, wrapping it around a skewer, applying sauce to it, and cooking it. Goeheimochi comes in all kinds of shapes depending on the region and its culture. For example, there are waraji, dango, rice balls, and kiritanpo shaped Goheimochi, but at this store only waraji and dango shaped Goheimochi is offered. The sauce is made with ingredients such as sesame, walnut, or peanuts, which makes the Goheimochi irresistible when served fresh. In addition, it has many different souvenirs including jizake manju, karasumi (salted and dried mullet roe) and yokan.

Dochu Oyaki, located in Magome-juku in the city of Nakatsugawa in Gifu Prefecture, is a shop that sells Oyaki dumplings and Nikuman (steamed buns stuffed with pork), all of which the owner of the shop forms by hand and steams one by one. Customers can buy either savory or sweet Oyaki, including Japanese mustard leaves, eggplant, shimeji mushrooms, sliced and dried daikon radish, walnut paste, or mugwort-bean paste, all of which are popular for their simple flavors and their suitability as snacks to eat while walking around. Customers can also rest inside the shop while drinking tea or eating pickled vegetables. Eating the Oyaki on the spot lets customers enjoy their soft, fluffy texture, but customers who buy them to take home and toast them later will enjoy the appetizing fragrance that they produce.

This restaurant is located approximately a 10-minute drive from the Nakatsugawa Interchange. With a retro Showa period (1926-1989) interior, it has both tatami mat floor seating and counter seating, making it a place that is comfortable going alone or with your family. A selling point is the new Nakatsugawa specialty “shoyu katsudon” (soy sauce pork cutlet rice bowl) drizzled with their special soy sauce flavored with dashi (Japanese soup stock). They also have pork cutlet rice bowls cooked with egg that have a flavor that has not changed since the restaurants opening, and specially-made pork cutlet rice bowls using Hida Mino Kenton pork. The local dish “Keichan” can be enjoyed as a hot pot or banquet course. In addition, you can purchase their special sauce at the restaurant.
