    Miyagi Pref. Sendaishi Aoba-ku Kimachidori 2-2-57
    A Japanese confectionary shop which has been operating in the same location since it was established in 1695. This long-standing establishment serves sells traditional sweets with a focus on old-fashioned dagashi. The shop's cute Sasara-ame, resembling a Japanese temari ball, were invented by the eighth owner in 1957 and have won numerous awards. The shop's renowned Sendai Tessen are modeled after an old coin once used in the ancient Sendai Domain and are a popular souvenir because they are said to bring luck with money. The shop's Sendai dagashi sweets set is also highly valued to give as a gift. In honor of the fictional character Airi Hayashida from the hit anime Wake Up, Girls! calling the area her home, the shop also sells a version with her name on them.

    A crafts shop carrying select handmade goods from across Japan and around the world located at the intersection of Itsutsubashi-dori Avenue and Kokubun-cho-dori Avenue. The original owner, a former classmate of renowned poet Kenji Miyazawa, chose the shop's name based a colophon at the end of Miyazawa's A Well-Ordered Restaurant. The shop's wide-ranging selection of standards includes pottery, lacquerware, and folk toys. Particularly recommended are the Muni Carpets, which are warm in winter and cool in summer and can be used year round; and the shop's signature coffee bean holders made with the secondary bark of Japanese bird cherries. Many of the shop's products are meant for long years of use and will only grow more attractive with age. The shop also holds special product exhibitions several times a year.

    A Western confectionary shop which primarily sells cakes established in 1959 and located in Shiogama City. Particularly recommended, however, is the shop's orange sherbet, which won the grand prize at the Whole Fruits Sweets Competition. Made with fresh-squeezed orange juice and milk with no added flavorings, this treat is as tasty and fragrant as a whole orange. Also popular are the long-time best seller Coffee Rolls and the smooth Zao pudding made with Zao milk and eggs.

    The natural harbor in Onagawa a five minute walk from Onagawa Station on the JR Ishinomaki Line has been renowned since ancient times. Several boat lines connecting to outlying islands leave from here, including Ashi-jima Island, a breeding ground for black-tailed gulls and rhinoceros auklets designated a National Natural Monument; and Enoshima Island, the only inhabited island in the Enoshima Island Archipelago. A scheduled boat also visits Mt. Kinka, one of the Three Holy Sites of Oshu (Mutsu Province), every Sunday and on holidays. Mt. Kinka is a popular mystical power spot. The port boasts one of the greatest hauls of Pacific saury in the country and its waters are used to cultivate oysters and silver salmon. The fresh seafood brought in here is used in town restaurants to make local specialties such as the Onagawa donburi rice bowl.

    This cheese studio in the Zao Dairy Center is five minutes by car from the Togatta Onsen bus stop. They make Zao cheese from high quality natural ingredients with advanced technology backed by tradition. In addition to cream cheese and aged cheeses like gouda and cheddar, they make a cheese drink with pasteurized milk and cheese whey. Their Cheese Cabin sells popular souvenirs like homemade ice cream and yogurt.

    This Japanese sweet shop is located on the first basement floor of S-PAL Sendai, connected to JR Sendai Station. Their veteran main shop in Wakabayashi Ward has been making confections for over 90 years. They lovingly make Japanese sweets that incorporate the charm of the seasons. Their zunda mochi is a Sendai specialty and is only available for a limited period between June and the end of October. Their popular standards zunda manju with sweet bean jam and kurumi yubeshi with walnuts are available year-round and make great gifts. Colorful and attractive, their nerikiri sweets and chilled desserts also come recommended.

    駅から商店街を歩いていたら、昔ながらのお菓子屋さんを見つけました。お店に入ったら、シュ-クリ-ムが人気だとか、早速頂きました。柔らかくて、カスタ-がたっぷりとてもおいしかったです。

    ちょっと疲れてきて甘いものが食べたくなった時に見つけて入ってみました。温厚そうなお店の方です。あんや醤油のスタンダードなだんごの他にもずんだなどもあります。朝から手作りするようでおいしいだんごでした。

    お土産やさんとしての利用をしました。床面積が広い=かなり多くの種類のお土産物の取り扱いがあります。いろいろなお店で「買おうと思って悩んでやめたけどやっぱりほしい」と思ったものがまた置いてあるはず!とくに食べ物系のお土産の種類は圧巻でした。
