- Sakube is a somen noodle manufacturer founded in 1988. Using hand-stretching methods said to be passed down from the Heian period, they incorporate modern hygienic standards and contemporary techniques to provide the tastiest noodles around. Their Shodoshima Island shop serves their famous somen, sells souvenirs, and offers the chance to try traditional hashiwake noodle stretching.

- Kamo Prefecture Azuki-gun Ikeda-cho Muro 1-1
- A noodle factory which has been making hand pulled noodles for some 400 years on Shodoshima Island. The factory offers tours which give participants the chance to see the production process. Wildly popular with tourists, tour goers can also eat some of the very same somen noodles they just watched being made right in front of their eyes. With an advance reservation, visitors can also try pulling some noodles by hand themselves, one of the most important steps in the production process.

- Kagawa Shozu-gun Shodoshima Cho Katajo Ko 44-224
- This udon restaurant is approximately three minutes by car from the Kusakabe Port. Visitors can enjoy authentic traditional Sanuki udon in this quaint old shop. Their most popular item, which is enjoyed not only by tourists but by the locals also, is Olive udon. The resilient chewy firm noodles are topped with their own homemade salty pickled olives, a refreshing matched flavor for udon. To the dried bonito and dried sardine based broth is added just a drizzle of Shodo Island olive oil, giving it an elegant but richer flavor. Many of the dishes are unique, available only at this shop, such as the olive gyuniku udon, which is topped with a mildly sweet marinated Olive Beef, and the gyu-suji udon, which is topped with string beef.

Kagawa Areas
Japan’s smallest prefecture, Kagawa, may take up just a small corner of Shikoku, but it has grown increasingly popular with the recognition of Naoshima, its "art island" in the Seto Inland Sea between Shikoku and Honshu. Just a stone’s throw from the islands, mainland Kagawa’s prefectural capital, Takamatsu, holds history in its castle ruins and its pride and joy, Ritsurin Garden, is known as one of the country’s best gardens.
